Finishing up the Grey 17SC for a customer to pick up in Tuckerton and I think Im in love with this color. Talk about a sea duck killing machine. The colors fantastic. More to come once we get her all dressed up and after its delivered. Don't want the customer to see to many photos before he arrives for pick up. We also have found a wonderful new product to help with entering the boats. a transom ladder that stores inside the transom and telescopes out for use. Quite a neat product that one of our suppliers just told us about recently. So recent no time to get one installed in this boat unfortunately. Anyway a photo for you to see what a 17SC looks like in Grey! It will match the 70hp Yamaha the owners putting on the back.

Do you have any concerns with entrapped water freezing in the storage sleeve portion of the transom ladder you are considering? When I leave my duckboat, I know two things will likely accompany me on my return: residual water and a mix of vegetation and muck. The unit you are considering looks like it has some pretty tight tolerances for the rung/hinge sections as well as the storage sleeve in the transom. Add a little water and mud to this at these sites and I suspect its function and utility will be compromised. I have always taken the approach than any hole drilled in the hull of a boat invites water intrusion;the fewer the better for the owner over the years of use. Have you considered any of the hang-on bracket mounted dive ladders? They can be removed quite quickly and the mount is above the static waterline.

Garelick makes a high quality, collapsable and therefore compact unit...

It appears to be pretty water tight and is mounted above the water line of the boat. Going to get one and see how it seems to look and go from there. Also considering the removable transom ladders like you posted a link too. Maybe even have a couple options as not everyone will have ice to worry about.

Tony,
I like the looks of the new "roof" design. How is it supported when deployed ? Does it flip back out of the way to shoot? How does it fold up to travel.
Would like to see more pictures. Would you fit one to a classic?
Bill.

Bill, its supported by 3 angle poles. it wont flip at the current state. and storage is easy unzip it. pull the pins from the side poles and your all set!

Bill does your back section have zippers for the roof panel or is it sewn directly onto the back panel? This optional roof top will be just that an option. That can be added at anytime to our boats. It may also work on any Sea Class that has the zippered roof panel.

Tony, very nice design and workmanship on the new blind and roof for the Sea Class 17'!

Assuming the top cockpit opening is the same as that on the Classic 17', couldn't an individual just seam rip the old top rainroof panel loose and have a canvas shop sew-on the other half of the zipper to make this a successful retrofit? If this is workable, then the roof framing and roof piece could be added to all the existing Tdb-17's of interested individuals.

I am not sure just yet, I have a 17 classic here at the shop and will check but the pole system is different so I dont know if it will work or not. But possibly for sure. More details when I get back from Tuckerton.. I have the new option here now but havent gotten it installed and all the poles fit yet. Guess Im taking some tape measures fitting and saws to Tuckerton and can work on it at the show. LOL I would love it if it will work for the old style as well because its awesome. plenty of head room and very easy to set up and put on take off.

Tony,
I have the zippered panels. Used to be called the side shooter if i recall correctly.

Bill thats correct but I still havent figured that one out. to make it a front shooter there would have to have been some other poles or something? SO that is why we went this route. standard 4 sides and now a top cover that lifts up a ft to give plenty of free space and open shooting out the front and front corners. No poles to fight with. Hopefully we can get it fitted and some true opinions from those at the show on how it works and what they think about it. Still working on the whole blind assembly part. Dont care for the bimini fittings and I cannot find a thumb screw that fits to eliminate the dang screws. Short of tapping them all out to 1/4 I dont know what else to do. And hate the idea of carrying a screw driver and a allen wrench all the time. Ugh!

I would chuck them in a drill press or lathe and cut a groove to attach a leash so the hardware can't be dropped and lost.

Good idea(s), Dave, Mojo Outdoors now has coated cable attached to all their pole pins. I wish FA had done the same thing with their Pro-Guide field blinds, since I carry an extra set in my coat, just in case.

Tony, sorry for the sloppy typing. I broke the nose piece on my reading glasses yesterday AM while hunting geese. I left my shooting glasses on the shelf in the TDB.
