Greylag Geese

This family of geese moved in down the road from me in Baghdad. From the literature that I have found these ones appear to be wild, the references all say that domestic ones have a wide rear end. Unfortunately the goslings don't seem to be fairing well, they are diminishing by the day. We have an abundance of jackals running around and I think they are getting to them at night. It would be nice to see some of them make it.

Ira, can't your snipers do double duty on 4 legged varmint control? It's hard to imagine the stress on animals in a war zone. Keep safe and post back up when you can.

Lee,

With all the security and populace you would think that this place was locked down but we have a lot of reeds and thick vegetation for the critters to hide in. We have a contractor here that is in charge of pest control; mosquitos, pigeons, rats, and jackals etc. I got to talking to him the other day and he said he spotted a cat track that was about five inches in diameter! There is no cat indigenous to this part of the world that posseses feet that big, his theory is that it belongs to one of the cats that escaped from the Baghdad Zoo during the invasion. The guy is an Aggie so I don't know how credible he is. -Ira
