For those of you that own Grizzly bandsaws which model do you own and what is your opinion on them?
Thanks

Hi Phil,

I have a Grizzly Model G1019Z. I think mine is about 8-10 years old, I bought mine from my brother in law 5 years ago and use it for decoys and other household projects. I have the riser block and have no complaints, it has worked great.

Regards,
Kenley

Phil,
Based on internet evaluations that call the G0555 one of the best values in bandsaws (and a few comments by members of this web sit- just search the posts for "bandsaw" or "grizzly") , I bought one this spring. They were (and may still be) on sale for $395.

Unfortunatley, all I have done with it so far is cut out 6 heads. Only thing I can say for sure is that I wish I had bought a good blade for it up front and not wasted time setting up the factory blade. Was burning wood by the second head, so I bought a 6 TPI Olson at Ace Hardware, and all was good after that.

In a couple months I hope to find the time to install the riser block and get on some decoy making.

Take care!

I have one that has been a great saw. I'm not sure the model number. The label says 16" bandsaw, and it has a 103"(?) blade.

I have a number of different tuff tooth saw blades. They're great blades and can be sent back to be resharpened.

I bought the saw from a co-workers neighbor that did furniture restoration for The White House and various other government buildings.

The GO555 w/ the riser block is a great saw!!! Mine has been run hard with no problems. BTW - buy tufftooth blades NOT the grizzly blades, they suck.

I recently got the same one with the same good results. You definately want to put the riser on ASAP before you use it. Otherwise it would be tough to get done. The stock blade should go directly in the trash.

same story, the G0555 with riser. I love it. I have cut a lot of maple, ash, and red oak with it as well, not just soft decoy wood. No problems with it, had it over 5 years now.

Tuff tooth blades as well, silicone deals. Very nice.

Hook up dust collection right away, also get a zero clearance insert (would do this with any saw) that helps.

that original blade is used only with junky wood that may have issues so I kept it for that purpose, otherwise it was junk.

Good luck.

Looks like you have all of the information you need, Phil. Time to pull the trigger and get the saw so that you can start making decoys!

Best,
Nate

Yep your right, now all I have to do is convince the Boss (we both know who I'm talking about) that I really, really, really, absolutley, have to, have to,really need it.

Well, you'll be sleeping in that barnegat anyway, so the bandsaw can at least hold the tarp up when it is raining!

I like my G0555 also. I put on the 6 inch riser too. I had to do some adjusting to get it to tension properly after putting in the riser. I am still not happy with the tension adjustment and also feel like it might be slightly out from coplanar after putting in the riser. I haven't tried to call Grizzly support yet, but I hear that they will help out.
