Grumman Canoe Rowing Rig

Guys,
I have a 15' Grumman square stern and was thinking about a better back up than paddling if my motor gives out. Didn't even know that Grumman has a "rowing rig" for their canoes, both square stern and double enders.

This is a pretty cool deal. It will push my canoe far faster than I can paddle it. I had never heard of this before.

What do you think?

Had one many years ago and got out of hunting and sold it. Sorry I did. Was great on the lakes and rivers out here on the Island.

My Dad had a sailing rig for his Grumman. I was fun but not stable nothing you would want to use in conditions you would not swim in. Not really helpful for you. where do you sit for rowing rig? My grumman only has front and rear seats.

I place the rowing rig... which has a seat... near the first thwart from the stern. Give perfect balance for one guy. With stabilizers from Cabelas, you can stand up without any fear of going over. The foot rest is great for getting push off, but it also comes off with a simple pin to free up more room.
