Hope this doesn't fall under "commercial", as it is a great chance for carvers to see classic decoys that won't be sitting on my shelves any time soon: Tue/26 Wed/27 July at the Sheraton Harborside Portsmouth NH. Auction, and another room of tables for buy, swap, sell. Make sure you don't wave to someone when the bidding is on. Their site is www.guyetteanddeeter.com

a friend brought the catalog to our Sunday morning shoot,

some real nice stuff in there - out of my league - but real nice stuff

There are two other decoy auctions at the end of July-- Decoys Unlimited July 22 in Hyannis Ma. and Copley Fine Art Auction July 24 in Plymouth Ma. A complete catalog of each sale is now on line for viewing and as Vince said they are an excellent reference of decoys most of us will never see let alone ever own. All have a vender buy/swap session usually prior to the auction. Last year I decided to go to all three events and it was well worth it to actually see and handle decoys of this caliber. This year I'll definitely make it to Portsmouth. An advantage of attending is the people you meet. Last year at the NH auction I made a couple of contacts with scull floats ,sculling oars and BBSBs. Out of that came a BBSB project build that hopefully will be in the water by Oct.
