hadden boats melon seed

Nice looking boat Bill.It looks like the rig is a little more complicated than a basic sprit.I wouldn't want any line
attached to the deck or any place other than the mast,so it could turn 360deg,only the sheet to a swivel block on the rudder head.
Who built that boat?

Joe O ,the melon seed skiff was made by Hadden boats,Georgetown,Me. I don' see any need to have the mast swing in a 360degrees the melon seeds in wooden boat mag. show some tied to mast and some to the deck if I was to incounter heavy weather I think I would like the mast attached to the deck. When I start to build my melon seed I will be making the cocpit small as I intend to use it for hunting waterfowl with my BBSB and Black powder 10Ga and hand made decoys in a more classic way. Joe O just talked to a friend today that has one of my saling Barnegats and we hope to sail them to the hunting grounds this fall and gun for waterfawl. I intend to use my black power 10Ga and I would like him to use his black power dubble too.It would be a great hunt as we are both well known decoy carver, and would be nice to have a wildlife writher along with us.write a nice article about calasic waterfoweling in it's pureist form. mabe just a dream but drean some time come true. get a copy of program #615 PBS cabin country and fiew two nice barnegats. best as always your friend , Bill

Sounds like a super idea ,Bill, and that dream will come true.I'd bet on it.Build pics of the melonseed, when you have time.
