has an awesome day with the family and duckboat...

I'm envious ... Can't wait 'til my grandsons are that age -- the duckboat is ready. Thanks for being such a Great Dad, and creating memories that last.

Nice haul. One of the best "outdoorsy" things to do this time of year!

We were getting the stuff loaded into the boat at sunrise in the driveway and the turkies were just gobbling like crazy - 3-4-5 birds just hammering away. I thought whoa, it is getting towards that time.

I keep thinking about your fire Jode, I hope things are moving ahead positively.

I don't know about great dad, but we do do cool stuff :). By the time I have a grandson, I'll be too worn out to clam! Good luck with yours!

Great pics. That cooked up bowl sure looks tasty!

We plan to do some clam tasting from this batch tonight! THey were some buddy buggers, we dug in a bit of a new area and they were muddier than usual.

Looks like fun. Glad you have the proper watercraft for the rough conditions.

It was a white knuckle ride, but we got there safe. No amount of extreme weather can keep us off our shellfish :).

On another note: I was able to till a couple strips for Jen on Saturday and she got peas in after we got home yesterday. It has been wet, but we got just the right window.

Saturday I was also able to get a strip tilled, I planted a row of swiss chard, spinach and radishes. Then my brother came over to have a beer so I had to stop or I would have tilled a lot more. :)
It's a little depressing right now looking at how dry it is. I had some hope but I only have a couple feet of soil over gravel. Looks like I'll be watering early this year.

Awesome about getting stuff in the ground, not so much on the water situation. Our overwintered spinach did really well and is really coming on and lettuce in the cold frame is great, but nothing else in the ground (we are finishing the last of the overwintered carrots and may not finish last years parsnips). I think next installment is parsnips in the ground. This is gonig to be a weird garden year given the Alaska trip.

Dive man, dive!

Not sure about CT, but you can get a resident recreational 5-pot license in RI.

We can get a rec license here, but I'm not on the water consistantly enough in the summer with traveling. If I was a diver, I'd be all over lobsters.

Clams sure look good,i dug a bunch on the north shore of L.i. i hear the bays are pretty polluted now. Maybe some one can enlighten me on the water conditions.
Conditions too wet to start a garden yet,too much clay in the ground. Hope to finish next years firewood this week.
Thanks for sharing.
Bill.

I don't know the situation on LI, but they monitor our shellfish pretty close and I've read up on them and they are in great shape.

Don't get me wrong, we are often too wet this time of year to get in the garden, it was lucky timing and a tactical strike to get in to get tilled for peas.

Tod~

Beautiful garvey! You build it?

Thanks for the great pictures. Hard to beat kids and boats!

I used to clam on Great South Bay in the early '70s - precious few to be caught there nowadays.

All the best,

SJS

Thanks Steve! Yes, that is my Devlin Snowgoose, I built it about 10 years ago.
