Dude. Katy and Brookshire are adjacent to Houston. Used to be the best Grand Prairie Snow Goose hunting around. Think the city's encroaching somewhat, but I'll bet you can still get a great hunt in. What opportunity? You moving AGAIN?

Bill,

I have accepted an offer with FMC Technologies, Subsea division in Houton, TX...Most likely will be moving down the weekend of November 12th weekend...

Blowout preventers and manifolds? Isn't that like sleeping in your enemy's den?
Check out some of the gulf coast hunting spots. They're supposed to be ctazy fir divers. But ain't that a bit of a hike from Paducah and Un?

Kristan,
I've done a bunch of hunting West of there in Pearsall, B'ville, Choke Canyon, Peggy & Uvalde. You'll like Texas. Next 2 Michigan, it's my 2nd favorite State. We've hunted dove, quail, snipe, ducks, geese, jackrabbits, sandhill crane, wild turkey, wild boar & deer down there.
If you get a chance, check out Choke Canyon, it's a 28,000 acre reservoir and has some great hunting and fishing...along with the Covered Gate Lodge & Ranch in Uvalde.

There is plenty of hunting down here. Lou touched on few good spots. I live about 4 hours south of Houston outside Corpus Christi. Give me a shout when you get settled in. If you want to come down I'll take you out. Redheads and pintails are THICK around here. We also have a hunting buddy with a super goose lease in ElCampo. You will have plenty of places to hunt here. The state is very good for public land duck hunters.

I lived in Houston for eight years. look up Larry Gore, based out of Katy. he usually leases a spot to ten guys but we only hunted there if the guides where booked other wise he let you hunt just about any place, back then he had 50,000 acres leased.

Hello mate, have a couple of mates that live just out side and do a lot of shooting, for snows craines and ducks. let me know if you want some inside info. I know they both belong to a club down there. PM me if you want some more info and want me to put you intouch.

Hunted there a couple of times with guys who used to frequent the sites. We hunted Trinity Bay and that area east of town as well as a WMA called Peach Point (or somethign like that).
Quite a bit of public water to hunt and lots of NWRs and Management Areas all over that area.
There are tons of grasbeds down in the bay north of Galveston Island, should be lots of divers there but have no experience with them. You'll need a shallow draft but big water boat.
The snow goose & specklebelly hunting around there is fantastic, tons of guides. We hunted El Campo for them.

I dont think you will be dissapointed!
