Help finding outside caliper

I have scoured the web to the best of my ability and have come up empty. I have found some digital ones that are similar, but I want a solely mechanical one like this. Can someone help me? I actually need two as my son told me he want one too for measuring legos and such. I am just borrowing this one and need to return it.

I am using it to measure the wood thickness on hollowed decoys. This works great. It is not super accurate, but measures instantly and easily. Nothing to break on it either.

Andy,

You might consider making your own. I did a quick search and came up with this link Bowl Wall Thickness Caliper. He shows how to make one out of birch plywood. I didn't read the whole article so can't say just how practical it might be. The one I use is similar to this commercial one but mine does not have an attached scale like the one you are using.

Good luck in your search.

lee valley has a caliper like that without the scale on it
I purchased one from them a few years ago and it works as advertised, spring loaded, helps with hollowing decoys.

I have a winner!! These look just about like it. I don't think they are the ones you were talking about, but they are from Lee Valley. THANKS! I tried to check all the suppliers I could think of, but forgot about Lee Valley. Although, at $50 each, I am not sure I will get an extra one for my son to measure Legos quite yet. :) He will need to borrow mine.

this is the one I have, you set it for the thickness you want
and then open it up slide it over the body and the indicator tells you how far you have to go
this one may be better, you don't have to keep setting it
very easy to use while you are in the process of hollowing a body

cheaper too
good luck
