Hey, IL guys, is this true?

ILLINOIS SENATE EYES GUN BAN . . . The Illinois Senate could vote any time on legislation that would ban the purchase, possession and manufacturing of many semi-automatic firearms, individual parts from these firearms and magazines. Enactment of Senate Bill 16, pushed by Chicago's anti-gun Mayor Richard Daley and his allies in the legislature, would also create a registry of existing or grandfathered-in firearms owners who would have 90 days to comply with the registration process or face arrest and felony prosecution. Illinoisans are encouraged to contact their senators and urge them to oppose SB 16.

I copied it off another website

Its true! And here is another:
A bill banning the sale of semi-automatic, single shot, bolt-action, and other manual-loading .50 caliber rifles and ammunition, is moving through the Illinois State Senate.

Senate Bill 1471, sponsored by State Senator Dan Kotowski (D-33), could see action in the Senate any day, and your State Senator needs to hear from constituents who are opposed SB1471.

Please contact your State Senator at (217) 782-5715 and respectfully urge him or her to oppose this threat to your Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

This bill will ban anything that is 50 cal. which includes 12 ga slug guns.

Good ol Daley and the Democratic machine!

That one is dumber than the first. It seems to me that IL problems are with gangs and inter city crime. Where would a person from the inter city get a BMG, a scope and bullets, plus where could they use it? I had one for about 9 mos. spent a small fortune on the scope (more than I paid for the gun) and then every time I pulled the trigger it was like burn a $5 bill. That gun or rather size is not IL's problem. You want to solve some problems, make people pass a drug test to get any type of government aid, I had to pass one to get my job.

And I thought it was bad that we have Doyle as our governor.

There are two trains of thought going on here. First, ask the current administration and they will tell you that all of Illinois is part of Chicago. Therefore, we (the down state people) are part of an ignorant, hick drug dealing gang. Secondly, (this is the one I feel is more plausible) the current administration is afraid of a revolt and are protecting themselves.

This will make it easier for them to round up all of us "enemies of the state". God knows we have all of these roving gangs running around with "assault weapons". They believe that sportsmen will go along with this because "it doesnt affect my hunting gun". Ban one type of gun and that opens the door to others. The govenor Blagoavich talks out of both ends saying he is a friend of the hunters while at the same time indorsing gun bans. typical politics! I live in Harwood Heights which is a suburb of Chicago near Ohare. Harwood Heights and Norridge are the only suburbs that are completely surrounded by Chicago because of the airport. Dick's sporting goods wanted to open a store down the street from me. Well they quickly changed there minds when they realized they were going to get heat from Chicago. Thankfully because I live in the suburb Chicagos handgun ban doesnt apply to me. Lets hope that soon someone will challenge the Chicago handgun ban like they did in Washington DC.
