Hey John Livolti!

I was done in your neck of the woods yesterday, putting wrethes on my parents graves. So I took a ride down Merrick rd. just to see the changes. When I wnt to amityville a nd Toomey's Pearl Grey fishing station it was still there but not a duck boat tied up. I asked a guy about that and the reply was nobody hunts ducks anymore.. When I guided out of there, the would be at least a half dozen duck boats tied uo for the season. Are you the only left out on the bay?

Jack,

I'm am one of the only guides working the bay over here. It does seem like I have the bay all to myself on some days. On weekends there are a few more boats out but still not that many. It does appear that the number of boats is dropping each year.
I think this year it's been quiet due to the storm damage. There are still a lot of ramps that are not open and marinas that dont have docks. I finally got our ramp at work cleared out so I can launch from Lindenhurst and get access to points east without a real long run.

Lots of guys still gun out here, everyone keeps their boats at private residences mostly, no marina's with duckboat really. Hunting has been poor anyway.

John
What happens to all the boats wrecked in that storm?
wis boz

Some are repaired and the others will be sold for salvage. The worst of them will be disassembled, cut up, crushed and sent to a landfill.
It's a good time to find those old hard to get parts if you need them. We have one yard that has been rented by a salvage company and boats are rolling is every.

Thanks John. The news media goes to other stories and I'm sure there's a lot of work repairing and rebuilding of homes docks etc. and people are still suffering from that storm but not news worthy. Have a Happy Holiday.

Have a Happy Holiday too.

John, went with chris and bagged a few brant. How are you doing at the marina? Everyone thinks about the homes, there are boats worth alot more. Hope you are getting out and doing a little shooting. Still looking for a 18/21' boat for scalloping and gunning [salvage?].
Got the refurbished boat registered NYS today. Took a hour, but done.

Rich,

Glad to hear your Brant hunt went well. The marina is coming along. I'm hoping that I can move out of the trailer and into the office in two weeks or so. The floors and walls are done. Just waiting for trim work and furniture to be moved in.
Most of the boats have been surveyed and estimates almost completed. Still have a bunch more to go. The mechanics are working on mechanical stuff outside and fiberglass are stuck doing repairs in one of the show rooms turned shop....We are at loss for a large headed building so some stuff will have to wait till spring. It's not going to be easy. Right now we have three years worth of fiberglass work on paper. We are going to be pulling guys from locations around the country to get it all done. I just hope early spring is warm and dry.
As for a small boat, I have been keeping my eyes open and have asked the guys to let me know if anything like what your looking for comes in.
If you want to go out for scallops one day let me know. I have a small boat on a trailer and a scallop dredge.

Do you mean to tell me that I can pay to leave my boat in the water at Pearl Grey? Is this still true or just a story of days gone by?

Frank

Frank,

I don't think it would be a problem keeping your boat in the water at Pearl Gray. Give John a call I'm sure he will work with you.

Hey John I gave your number to a customer of mine looking to do a father/son duck hunt...I hope he called you

Thanks Rob,

That must have been Kevin C.
He asked me about renting guns for the hunt. I suggested he purchase them from you but he sounds undecided.
He should be calling me back today to book a date.

Rob, John, Rich, and anyone else,
Since you're all here I'd like to invite you all to our Delta Christmas Party tonight.
It's kind of short notice but it would be great if you could make it. Raffles, prizes but real low key.
Heros, goose, mallard, pheasant, probably some venison.

Thursday December 20, 2012- 7pm

American Legion Hall

340 Union Blvd, West Islip

Hope to see you,

Frank
