Hey Southern Michiganders

My wife and I are looking for a small cottage to rent for a long weekend or short week in mid to late September. We would prefer lake front but lake access would be okay. Just the two of us, our 14 month old boy, and our well behaved lab. If you have one or know of one please let me know. We are trying to keep it within 4-5 hours if Indy for the little guy.

Thanks
Hank

Hank, give Shan-Gri-La Resort in paw paw mi. a call 269-657-4597 they are dog friendly. It is on three mile lake.

Hank,
We are just over 5 hours from you here in Gods county. Come in September and we can do some grouse hunting. Just don't do it between the 8th and 16th I will be duck hunting in Canada.

I usually don't plug the resort here on this site but I think you guys would really like it up here. Send me a PM if you want some info on the resort we own.

Brandon - is there another Lake Gogebic? Google maps says you are 10+ hrs. Maybe I am looking at the wrong one? I would love to get into some trout and grouse and have a family vacation, but for now that is just too far.

Ben - PM back atcha. Thanks

If anyone else has some suggestions or a place to rent please let me know.

Thanks!!!!!

Hank...ten minutes from the state line in LaPorte County is Cranberry Lake. My wife and I manage it. We have two houses and a cabin and several primitive campgrounds.
www.thecranberrylake.com Unfortunately we don't manage the website so it's not that great but you'll get the idea. The rates do drop after labor day. It's about 20 minutes to New Buffalo, MI, ten minutes to LaPorte and 25 minutes to South Bend.

I should mention that it's a non recreational lake in terms of jet skis, skiing etc. We fish for trophy bass. 140 acre private lake. No public access.

I guess I ran the map wrong when I check it I am not sure what I was thinking since lower WI is more then 5 hours. Anyway sorry for the confusion!

Hank,

My friend from Indy rented this place this summer and he and his wife enjoyed the stay, I know it is pet friendly because he had two labs there with him. Good fishing for blue gill, bass and we found good population of walley just on the small side and the home owner does leave a small row boat there for renters.

If you do a search at the site there are a number of places in the area for rent, check paw paw, richland, or south haven if you want lake michigan.
