From Lou:
Chuck....My name is Lou Nolan. I am one of the founders and President of the Delaware Valley Decoy Carvers and Collectors (DVDCC). We meet all around the Philly area and Jode Hillman is one of out members. Here is a bird for auction.

This is a black duck carved by Jack Tierney, of Stratford CT, that was in my collection as unfinished. I gave it to Jode during a meeting in my home in 2007 knowing he would make something of it. During a meeting of the DVDCC in November of 2012, Jode presented me with the Jack Tierney, in original Jode Hillman paint. He and another member, Sean Sutton, also an accomplished carver, had hunter over the bird in Jode's rig many times. It is a beauty.

Jack Tierney hunted the Housatonic River in Connecticut with Tom Marshall a famous person in the decoy world. Marshall was a hunting partner of Shang Wheeler. It is safe to say that Tierney may have hunted with Wheeler as well.

It is fitting that this absolutely beautifully painted black should benefit our buddy Jode as he gets back on his feet. I will take care of the packaging and mailing.

Best regards....Lou Nolan

For anyone else unfamiliar with Jack Tierney, I found this:

One of Beaver Dam's most famous residents was Jack Tierney. Jack was a renowned bird carver whose carvings won many awards. Jack was a past-president of Connecticut Audubon and was very instrumental in the opening of Connecticut Audubon's education center at Milford Point. Jack passed away in 2007, but his beautiful carvings live on in the homes of many Connecticut residents. Jack loved the Beaver Dam lake and was known to share the beautiful views of the lake from his backyard with all the visitors to his home. Jack was an avid fisherman and claimed Beaver Dam offered many fine fishing opportunities.

I would imagine this decoy defines "one of a kind"
