Hoping to take birds I have not shot before, anyone want to trade a trip?

Guys...
I have been duck hunting since I was just a kid and in that time there are several birds I have never had the opportunity to take or I have not shot many of here in the northeast. It seems that people on this site are some of the nicest and most genuine around, perhaps since we all share the same love...
Anyway, I am looking for some help with a few species. Maybe you would like to trade a duckhunt with me here on Long Island, NY? I would even trade a fishing trip for striped bass, bluefish, fluke or false albacore as I have an 18ft Parker CC. Maybe you know where some of these birds hang out and would like to do a hunt with me in my duckboat? Or maybe you are like me and enjoy hunting in new places and meeting new friends.

Here is my list:

Redhead
Widgeon
Gadwall
Pintail
Goldeneye
Canvasback
Wood duck
Blue Wing Teal
Cinnamon Teal
Brant
Common Eider

I know some of these birds are not common to the Northeast, but I am hoping to stay somewhat local.... If anyone wants to trade a trip, make a new hunting buddy, etc please feel free to respond.
Like I said, I can offer hunting out of my duckboat for one guest, we have good shooting for mallards, black ducks, bufflehead, green wing teal and Canadian Geese. I can also offer great fishing for 2 guests for striped bass, bluefish, fluke and false albacore (little tuna during the fall fun). Maybe even some sea duck shooting out of my center console boat for scoters and old squaw.
Let me know....

Chris

The one duck on your list I know I can help you out with is the wood duck. However the cost of a Ct license to take one species may not appeal to you. If your interested shoot me a pm and we can talk details. I'm in Northeastern CT.

The only bird on your list I could help you w/ is brant. There are plenty of them in south Jersey. My first born is due in late Sept. so I dont know how much hunting I'll get to do this year but if your ever down this way I can show you some spots that you will see plenty of brant. Luke

If you want to hunt Arkansas with us you are more than welcome. Given what type of weather and water we get I could more than likely help you fill out:

Redhead
Widgeon
Gadwall
Pintail
Goldeneye
Canvasback
Wood duck
I would say Bluewing Teal but it's rare to shoot them later in the season when they are full plume.

Would be hunting timber, swamps, big water, rivers, etc. depending on the weather and water. You would have to bring a boat as mine is not working. If you want to hunt with us you are more than welcome. You would not have to return the favor either.

Chris you know where I am on LI and have shot evevry one of those species in my area on the southshore, well get together this season. I have taken the woodie and bluewing in the salt too!the only bird I have not gotten has been the Can and eider. Brant, gaddies, and pintails are readily available. I would love to do some false albacore on the fly, I just got into the saltwater flyfishing.

Chris,
If luke can't help you out on the brant I can. My gunning buddy is probably moving just before the season opens. I would like to have people come and hunt with me. Thats about all I can help you with on the list. I would like a GW teal or also love a goose hunt Never shoot either.

CG are you lookn for full color birds for a mount, or just wanting to expand your bird/ hunting experences? It could make a diference of where you go for your hunts. Best of luck to you.
Dennis

Chris,
All you have to do is drive 30 miles west and you'll have all the Brant you can handle, theres also Pintail,Goldeneye and Gadwalls here. There are Teal and Woodies also but not as numerous.

Make a road trip to the Gulf Coast and you could easily knock out:
Redhead
Widgeon
Gadwall
Pintail
Canvasback
Wood duck
Blue Wing Teal
and maybe Goldeneye.
Especially if you go to Louisiana & Texas.
Heck, in a great year, I could put you on all of them within 30 miles of my place over the course of 3 days, but we havent had a great year since 2004-05. Last year was better than the last 4 but not by much.
Come on down!

You're welcome to hunt with me up here by Syracuse. Lots of woodies around in late October. Then we have redhead and goldeneye after Christmas. The late season hunting is ice dependent, if my favorite redhead spot freezes up then I'll be chasing oldsquaw.

Wow! never expected such a response, and from all over the US! Thank you so much guys... I am hoping to stay as local as possible with NY being first (dont have to buy another license) followed by NJ and CT.
A lot of the birds on my list are available somewhat locally, but it's all about meeting the right people and learning the right spots. I will be in touch with the local guys, looking forward to meeting you.... To the guys a little further away, thank you so much for the offers, unfortunately my time is limited this season and I have to stay somewhat local as a result.
Like I said, some of the greatest people around are waterfowlers!

Come on to Lake O, Florida, plenty of Blue wings, ring necks, scaup and mottled. January is the best time, may even shoot some pintail, widgeon, Black Bellys.....John Van Houten

whats it like duck hunting in Florida? Us northerners are used to cold weather, snow, ice.... etc. Whats typical duck weather in the sunshine state, Are the gators a problem?

I'm originally from Oceanside LI, hunted Baldwin Bay, Freeport, Long Beach. Basically Beddell Creek all the way to Jones Inlet.
It gets down to 28-40 degrees during the month of January. It's normally pretty good hunting. I used my dog all last year, but you have to be careful. I will not put him in the water during early teal season. Most of the hunting is in 1 foot to 2 foot of water. Every once in awhile a gator will swim through the decoys.
It's funny though you never forget, the year before I was hunting out of a sneak boat and after unloading I looked into the boat from the top of the dock and the flooring didn't seem right. The night before a light rain had came through with a cold front. There was ice in the boat.

Here is my list:
Widgeon
Gadwall
Pintail
Cinnamon Teal
Plan a family trip to CA and come see Yosemite, Giant Sequoias, etc. Then, mix in a couple days of duck hunting and everyone will be happy. The birds above are fairly easy here.

Chris,
We have some of the best Green-wing hunting right here on NJ's Delaware bayshore. I can almost guarantee you some good gunning for them. Nov. is best time for prime colored drakes.

Your more than welcome to come and gun with me anytime.
