Hull Protection Question and Good News

I have not said much lately, been pretty tied up because I just found out that I AM GOING TO BE A DAD!!!!! The baby will be here in DEC. My wife is in good shape....well her shape is changing but she is doing great. I have to do all the things inside and outside now because she sleeps a lot! The baby is the size of an apple and he or she takes a lot out of her. Laundry is bad!!! My trip to Missori to shoot with a former president of Budweiser is cancelled, it was in DEC. Oh well maybe next year. I wanted to originally build a boat, with the news I decided that to build the boat I want, would not be feasible. Then I ran into the deal of a lifetime. A 14-foot fiberglass old school tri-hull and trailer for $125.00. I know fiberglass repair and it definitely needs some, I am not worried about that. I am still trying to figure out what kind of boat it is , pictures to follow for identification and to show my progress. I have never seen any duck boat like it, the mini-cock pit sits in the front of the boat so I can see what I am going to run into, it kind of reminds me of a little Whaler. I plan on using this boat for all types of situations, rivers and dikes, to bay hunting. I have my general plan for the collaspable blind, paint, lights, etc. I do know that I will be mounting a winch on the front, there is small covered area that ties into the cockpit that will work great, I have not figured out how to reinforce this area for the winch. I hunt in a lot of game areas that are set up with dikes and you need to go a few miles down a river and a few pulls over a few dikes gets you where a lot of people can't go, the good spots! I am looking for reinforcement ideas. The other factor in pulling over these dikes is the hull. I want to reinforce the main friction points on the tri-hull so I can drag that baby (the Boat) over anything!! I have seen some sites for Hull-saver, a poly-vinyl strip that is glued with some super 3M stuff that says it is really tuff. Is there something else that I can do? I thought about beefing up the main hull w/new fiberglass, but I was wondering if there was another way, the hull saver is going to be more than my boat, I was hoping to get some ideas, options, from everyone. Thank You in advance and I will get pictures up by the end of the week.

congratulations on the news of the young one.

For runners on the bottom of the tri hull, look in to the plastic runners they use for snow mobiles. They are usually drilled and tapped. If you can get under the floor boards, put a backer block and drill though the hull. put adhesive and bolt on.

you could do some thing similar for the winch.

Congrats Daddy.

My wife says I always start big projects right after the birth.
I guess two-out-of three makes it so. One boat and one duck blind.
For the third, I had the two bigger kids to get out of the house so mom could rest sith the baby.
You spend 9+ months planning and taking care of the mom to be and then the baby shows up.
After a few weeks, I get in the way or make too much noise or something, so it's time to find an outside project.

Good luck with the baby and the boat project!
