Don't let the guys on NoDak Outdoors scare you off. There's a few on there that talk tough, but like a lot of sites on the internet, one or two bigmouths seem to think they're talking for everybody when they're not.
Once you get to ND you'll find that the locals there are nicer than anywhere in the country. We've been going for 7 years now and will probably never go anywhere else. One night the first year we were out we had all the local farmers over to the farmhouse we were renting for a dinner. For the cost of a couple cases of beer and some duck fajitas we now have pretty much exclusive access to roughly 25,000 acres. They always ask the guy we rent from when the "PA guys" are coming back.
One thing I do agree with the NODAK guys with though is not shooting the roosts. Just be careful if you're hunting the river that you're not busting the huge flocks on their night roost. That just chases the birds completely out of the area and messes it up for everybody. there's nothing wrong with hunting the river as long as you're just decoying birds passing by, or else birds coming back to loaf for a day roost.
Other than that I can't help much because we haven't hunted the Washburn area much.
Good Luck,
Kirk
