I don't want you guys to think I've been slacking ...

Got a canopy made for our family boat.

I took out the rotted wooden floor and installed an aluminum one.

I cut out the front bench seat to make more room for kids and junk under the canopy. It can accommodate Meg plus 5 friends.

It is rivetted on with SS rivets. The dust is pollen. It gets bad like this for about a week. I pity those with allergies.

And the last one. Last night we finally got started in stalling the new wood. When that's done I think I am off the hook for the rest of the summer, for house chores anyways. I need to build a new dock down at Tagish, but the water is coming up fast, so If I put it off long enough, I won't be able to do it until next summer.

Looking good.
I hope you don't waste all three weeks of summer working in the house. :-)

Tim

You do some pretty work. Now that you have run out of projects come on down to North Carolina and do my kitchen counters.

The cuddy you put on your boat looks great too. I hope you don't have trouble with dissimilar metals via using stainless steel rivets instead of aluminum.

Keep on keeping on,
Harry

Mike, you still have the Alaska numbers on that boat. What? Doesn't the Yukon have rules about boat registration?

Now to make that boat more like an Inupiat village whaling boat you need a 12 inch coaming around the rest of the boat and a plexiglass wind screen on top of the cuddy cabin. A blue 55 gallon plastic drum on the bow for fuel.

We are a little behind you on the birch pollen. Right now they are spewing sap and my truck and boat tarp are turning black. Well my black truck is turning blacker and the dust is sticking to it.

Tim, we've already had 3 nice weeks this year, so even if it rains and snows all rest of June and July who can complain?

Harry, you might not be as interested if I showed off all the mistakes, but thamks. I doubt if I'll have a problem with the rivets as I don't run in salt water much. PLus, I thought SS was inert?

Ray, I had the same idea about the combing, but only 6". and I have to put a windsheild on for sure. Meg and I went out for a first run of the season on the river a couple of nights ago and there were so many bugs hitting me in the face it was like being sandblasted. I have enough aluminum left over to make a two window, walk through, windsheild on top of that canopy. I think I'll just use plexiglass in the aluminum frame for this summer and see what changes I'd make before I buy that expensive safety glass.

Lots of smoke in the air here today. The radio said a thunderstorm on Wed made 700 lightening strikes and 90 ish new fires. Ah, summer in the North - if it is warm the whole place burns down.

MIke

Mike seeing as you have that little bit of work done, what have you been doing in your spare time. HeHeHe.
take care
Eddie.

Mike,

Wadda ya mean "no slacking". You're a teacher, right? and have nothing else to do all summer long. Unlike the rest of us who have to report to work all summer, you got nothing but free time!

BTW. Your projects are looking pretty nice. Is that the same motor that came with the boat or did you upgrade? Getting out much with the boat or is that your next priority? A guys got to have some fun too.

Hey Todd, ya my back is definately getting stronger. I wiped out on a patch of snow last weekend and it didn't even hurt a but so that is awesome. I can do most jobs without heavy lifting if I pace myself and work smart. I bought 4 cords of wood a month ago and the kids got it all stacked so I won't be tempted to cut a bunch myself.

Hiya Chuck, hey that swan still isn't finished?!?! Where's your prioroties man? : ) I have a bunch of Parker paint and I might do the interior, but my 14"er is our real duck killing machine and its already green. I was thinking of painting my old alum canoe though. We'll see.

Hi Eddie. Well the truth is, my wife does most of the reno's around here. All I did was cut the plywood for that countertop project - she did all the tiling and painting. She's the one swinging the hammer on the new flooring too. I just cut the boards,

Brandon, well I was down in Vancouver at the cronic pain program there for 3 weeks in May. I got lots of needles and x rays but no progress on the pain issue. I'm moving better though so that's good. And they have tons of hot Asian nurses down there.

Hey Dave, I saw that you were finally getting at your roof. No vacations this year I guess.

Same old motor, can't afford a newer one this year. Hope to do lots of fishing and nothing much on my 72 DAYS OFF IN A ROW. Hey, I didn't win a lottery you know, anyone who can stand other people's kids all winter can do it too. : ) I'm actually looking into applying for long term disability for next year - I'm getting stronger but still sucking down the pain killers. Sitting is getting more painful all the time. I have no idea why. Three weeks in Vancouver and I still don't know why. I try to avoid sitting while at work but its just not possible to not sit at all. I can tolerate sitting in a chair for about 20 min and that's it for the day. Anything more and I'm downing percocet. The meds make me slow though and the kids totally take advantage of that. I might work 1/2 time if it works out. When I putter around here on the weekends I can go until after lunch without any pain meds, but at work I'm into them by 9 am. Sitting at this computer kills.

Mike

...you got nothing but free time!

I define "free time" as all the time I spend working but don't get paid!

Mike, that swan sat for a month, while I was working 80 hours a week. It seems beyond work, and sleeping 3-4 hours, all my "spare time" was used up as "free time" and there wasn't anything left!

Mike its good to have the wife trained to do the work, I like your style HeHeHe., you said you may have to consider teaching part time due to your
back problem, can you not choose subjects like woodwork ect that will keep you on your feet most of the time. you will also have to go easy this year
and dont take any keep fit classes. HeHeHe.
take care
Eddie.

The meds huh? That's your excuse and you're sticking to it? Well,,,,, Ok, I'll give you that one.

Was glad to see from your post that you are getting around much better. Sure hope they find out what is causing the pain from sitting. I stand all day at work myself and it would totally suck not to be able to enjoy sitting for most of the evening.

And they have tons of hot Asian nurses down there.

Maybe you can get one as a live in nurse,,,,,,,,,,,,,, just to give your back a massage when it starts hurting of course.
