I went to a Whitetails Forever banquet

Same as usual...nuthin'

I did win a really cool engraved Pheasants Forever Ruger Red Label once at a banquet, but mostly I'm a LOSER!

Have you ever seen that gun Lee? You must have, but I hadn't....I thought it was pretty cool

If it's a movie file, I'll have to wait till I get home on the cable modem..down here in the hole we have a slowwww, crappy phone line modem and it takes 10 minutes to download a 15 second moving picture show. I "won" a gun at a DU banquet when a buddy and I went together and bid on a "mystery" box..he went nuts bidding and I couldn't reach him to choke him. The DU committee got nervous that we were going to be pissed off so they threw in a couple guns. I eneded up with a Marlin 22mag bolt action that I could have picked up for a 150..if I had WANTED one..and it only cost me 800 bucks. I can't remember what other crap I got along with it but the doctors wife that was bidding against us was really disappointed since she always won that particular auction every year. If I ever win a NICE gun at one of those, I'd probably have a stroke.

I'm like you Scott never win anything. Tomorrow night I am going to a NWTF banquet, they always have lots of guns and goodies to give away. But i am sure I will walk away empty handed, oh well these things are for a good cause. I never go with the intent that I will win anything or that I will be able to out bid someone in the auction. Maybe I can take some pictures of the guns they have and post them that will probably be the closest I'll get to winning.LOL

.410 or .45 colt (I think) Shoots both. Big long cylinder, SS, definitely a close quarters fighting piece. I couldn't think of any other purpose for it unless maybe I plugged all but 3 cylinders and carried it for my "follow up three".

If I did that though, I'd have to hunt with my "Wetlands" Rambo suit on.

I hope they had a couple Taurus .44's and maybe a .454 there. Seems like those guns would raise more money from deer hunters then a short range defense gun. Might be kind of fun if you have a critter problem in your yard...and no close neighbors. [;)]

Man, that would come in handy. I work in DC, driving there at 4 am is quite the trip. I'd stick with the 410, don't want to kill anybody but that limp will hopefully remind ya not to do it again. LoL

Just watched the video. OUCH! that thing would screw the hat down tight on a gangsta! If they ran..you could give them a load of 6's in the shorts without worry that you'd be charged with murder.

The sound of a shotgun pumping and loading a shell should stop em and have them drop a load in their shorts.

Davey, I had the impression from the gun dealer who brought all of the guns that you could shoot the slug no problem but it tended to "rattle" down the barrel so combined with the short barrel, you probably wouldn't want to try to shoot an apple off of Harker's head with it (unless he was wearing his extra heavy duty pot-hat).

Since it shoots the .45 Colt, I could undertand what he meant would happen with a .41 slug but Lee or Dave P. would have to verify that a .45 Colt is actually .45 inches across...or wait...you have that PERFECT 1911 Colt ACP so you would know too...but the ACP and the Colt load they showed are different...I guess I'm not expert enough.

Oh and it was a Whitestails UNLIMITED banquet too, my mistake...see, I just go for the food

What if we put one wrap of duct tape on the slug to tighten it up a bit :)

I really need 2 12ga auto slug guns to mount on the front of the motorcycle this year. The white tails chapter here in our area of OVER DEER POPULATION uses most of the money for youth education programs on hunting and saftey. We dont need more deer round here thats for sure.

Shoudl be a good time I got in as a sponsor so I got 100 raffle tickets already! wooohooooo ill still win nadda

Same problem here...my woods and stream adjoin about 2000 acres of the local dairy farmer's cornfields. They are everywhere. Thats why I say I am not much of a deer "hunter". I have taken a few but I wouldn't exactly call it hunting, in the "go up north and wait 3 days to see one" sense.

So this banquet is at a golf club a few miles away and theres a guy speaking about habitat creation while four or five monster does are walking across the fairway out the window behind him. (I think he was from the city)

Scott, I had 45 LC and 410 barrel on a contender frame. My personal experience it didn't shoot either very well. With the 45's out of the box, the bullets tended to end over end at 25 ft. I explained to a friend who reloads and he got me some reloads and they were better and could hit a pop can at 30 to 40ft. with the occasional flyer. The 410 as in the video if you were any farther than the width of a car you would be lucky to hit any thing. except with one or two pellets. Patterned it out on paper was very disappointed at any distance. I had a 6" barrel. The concept is interesting but reality I experienced was different.

I was hoping to find one to shoot before I made a "buy" decision...somehow it makes sense all things considering

Thanks!

That's odd Pete, I shot a Contender (10") 410/45 at a skeet range and it was fairly deadly. The 45 loads didn't shoot worth a hoot though. My father in law had a Marbles Game Getter... that he didn't ask me if I wanted and got hosed by a gunshop...I would have loved to shot that..perfect for rabbits with the 22/410ou configuration in a 6" barrel..probably a felony to own though.

Lee, I wondered if the barrel lenght had some thing to do with it. I would have liked to try it with a 16" barrel. The barrel I had came with the frame. The price was the same as if I just purchased the frame I purchased a 16" 35 Rem barrel at the same time. That works like a charm. When I was a kid the next door neighbor had a 410 pistol that was neat. I don't think that's legal now, problably not then either.

I tried shooting a partrige with it once. 20 ft. away. Just standing there with it's head up. Blam, Still standing there with it's head up wondering what that was all about. That was the last time I shot it. Traded it off for a 22 barrel." Now not that I would ever ground swat a bird but this was done in the name of bonified research. And I would never never recomend any one doing this unless they were extremely hungry"
