I went to a Whitetails Forever banquet

of no bullet pass through with the .410 why would anyone want to shoot the .410 through this thing?

In the video it does "impressive" damage to the target on the other side of the car but basically its a center punched traget with some minor collatoral pellet damge....the "REAL" damage was done by the core of the pattern(and then its likely the wad which would hurt like a son of a gun but wouldn't necessarily take out an attacker), and if you could hit the guy in the chest with the .410 you could expect the same with the .45 with the destinct advantage that the sumbitch wold be DEAD....

Back that target up to 20 feet and its my guess you'd put pellets all over the attacker but you sure wouldn't be guarunteed that he'd go down....so whats the attraction to the thing other than just the fun of shooting it, (not that thats a bad thing at all), because that has to be just about the most worthless "personal defense" weapon I've seen...

Enlighten me...

Steve

Probably the biggest "advantage" would be that it wouldn't brain the neighbor next door when it zips through a 180lb thug, the drywall,insulation,subsiding,siding...shrubery,siding,subsiding,insulation,drywall,pillow....From defensive pistol range, a 410 would be devastating and the collateral pellets to the face, throat and eyes could actually be more advantagious than several 45's in the torso of a determined drug filled slug that was intent on doing you harm.

...of "enlightening" you.

Lets all remember who started this post...the original Cousin Goober when it comes to having fun out in the backyard.

I never said I'd be trying to knock Al Capone down...besides, I'd be way undergunned around here...Flint, MI (the closest "big" city) is the home to the National MP5 Drive By Jamboree complete with moving targets.

So I live out in the country where its just me, one of my tractors and too many of those yard-wise woodchucks just beggin' for a load of sixes. On foot, I'm a human, but on the lawn tractor I'm just another curiousity to my little furry friends. The look on their faces is priceless when they realize that I truly AM a devil dog from Heck and the shooting starts.

But lets kick it up a notch...imagine me bearing down with my .410 revolver...full throttle in 3rd gear High Range and maybe "The Ride of the Valkyries" blaring out in the background a la Apocalypse Now...just for dramatic effect

THATS what I'm talkin' about!

Consider yourself enlightened Steve :)

Now as a defensive weapon I would like to see 60 cal 20 guage barrel. No worrying about just ticking off an attacker. You could claim self defence because he broke your arm.

as an advantage....and I can also see it being "fun to shoot"....no argument on either of those....

I'll stick to my guns though that as anything but the closest of closerange that its an inferior personal defense firearm....

Another question....is it even legal? Isn't their a barrel length restriction of 18" for shotguns and wouldn't shooting a shotgun shell out of a pistol render that pistol a shotgun with an illegal barrel length? Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass? Shoot a perp that was intent on killing you with the thing and then go to jail because you used an illegal weapon to do it.....I can see the ACLU lawyers lining up to be able to add that win to their resumes....

Steve

Nope..it's not a smoothbore..it's rifled. And as for it being a substandard self defense weapon...I guess I'd rather be able to use my scoped 30-06 and shitcan the perp 400 yards out so his face wouldn't haunt my dreams.

hadn't thought about rifling changing the defintion...guess I should have thought of that since using my thought process the snake shot loads that work so great in the back yard out of my Python would technically make that a shotgun too......

Steve

used to shoot it alot....in fact Debby did too but she didn't like the 6" barrel so I bought her one in 4"....other than popping the odd rat out the kitchen window with the snake loads they haven't been fired since we moved here 23 years ago....
