Well, I just got done packing all my crap, boarding up my windows and getting the dogs ready to go to Uvalde for what looks to be a while. I havn't had to evacuate for a hurricane in a few years, I forgot how much work it is. Any way pray for all of us down here in Texas. It looks like its gonna be a bad storm.

Hi Capt,
My prayers are with you & yours....count on it.
Is your wife working in Uvalde or a friend of hers? Can't recall. As we discussed, I've done a ton of hunting in Uvalde. Uvalde is plenty of distance away from the storm.............hopefully.
Later partner,

We decided to take the minimalist evacuation approach.
Friday, we're loading the mini-van with suitcases packed for 4 days, kids and whatever pictures my wife just can't do without.
The truck gets the dog, valuable documents, a few tools and all the guns. The rest is just stuff and can blow away or not..... it won't affect our lives. I personally think we have too much "stuff" anyway.

I'm bummed Ike is interrupting opening weekend of teal season more than anything.
The kids are happy they just got at least a 4-day weekend out of the deal.

I was sure hopeing that Ike would go due west to Mexico but it doesn't look like it. Brazoria county is the first one to call for evac orders. State is already staging DPS troopers in the Beeville area to get ready. Prayers for everyone in the mid-coast area.

Check out the coordinates at 7:00 AM Saturday.
My house is at 29.52N 096.07W

I told my wife I've been praying for a way to motivate her to become organized and to get rid of all the junk in our house.
Maybe he just heard "... get rid of all the junk."

At least we have 6 sets of pit blinds sunk on the duck lease.... just pump them out and hunt!
