After 4+ years I'm finally finished with my Scaup.
E-mails, internet forums, digital images are not my forte, and so I appologize for being a five year lurker with very few posts.
This site has been a tremendous asset while building. What a great group of guys. I first talked to Eric on the phone 5 years ago and started the boat soon there after. The hull shell build went smooth, loved the layout and carpentry (I am a custom home builder/carpenter), did not enjoy the epoxy as much. Nobody told me what a sticky mess that stuff is. Maybe if I posted more and asked more questions I would have been told.
Before I painted the bottom I went and bought a 180 acre hunting farm 50 minutes away in Owen County Kentucky which of course needed a cabin built, habitat improvement, food plots, a pond dug and obviously a bit of "wildlife management" done every fall and spring. During this time I took a three year hiatus from building.
Since the farm is now presentable I fired up the boat building again in October. With a fair amount of help from a new duck hunting friend who is also a tremendous craftsman I can say I'm done.
We took her out for a maden voyage/shake down yesterday. She ran great even with a 25hp. Don't know if the added weight of a fully rigged boat will affect the performance that much but time will tell. We will be taking her out today and I promise I'll take some pictures. Please stand by for questions on how to post them from a technologically challenged poor speller. (Where is the spell check on this thing?)
Thanks again for all the help that this site and it's members have given me and I hope to see some of you at the ramp as I drag this thing around chasing ducks.
