Late Saturday, a couple of us decided to get together on Sunday to carve for a little bit. Edward, Jason, Merritt & I all met up at my house to make a little dust and put the Big Green Egg to work.

Here's my Black Scoter drake in the process of being antiqued. Flat Marine Enamel promptly set on fire, then sanded -- ended up being pretty cool looking.

That title is killing me! LOL. Where's a pic of the "completed" decoy? I showed Brooke this post and she wants to know how you made that pizza since I'm drooling all over the keyboard. Btw, thanks for the invite... jerk *rolling eyes sarcastically and giving you the "L" on the forehead*

I didn't take a picture of the finished bird -- stupid me. Edward has it now so maybe he will see this and post a picture of it. I apologize for not getting the word out, but it really was a last minute decision to get together. You know that you are always welcome here.

As for the pizza -- we just took plain ol' Boboli crusts and sauce that you get at the grocery store. Added pepperoni, cheese, portobello mushrooms, etc. and put them on the Big Green Egg smoker/grill for 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Perfectly done with a hint of smokey goodness in the cheese. We made 3 and ate 2 1/2 of them. I had the leftovers for dinner tonight. They were AWESOME!!!

Jon, the scoter looks good but the pizza,,, much better. I just ate an elk roast for dinner and I'm now hungry again.

Hope all is well.

Fred

Hey Fred, tell you what - I'll trade you pizza for elk steaks any day.

Hope you are doing well. I finally got my computer up and running here at the house so I can finally burn you a CD of all the pics from this year. I'll get them in the mail tomorrow.

Jon, sounds great, tell you what, if you make it up here again next season I'll fill your duffel with steaks.

Can't wait to see the photos, last week Spencer shot a big tom with his bow and got the whole thing on video, had the camera set up in the blind and ran it all by himself then shot the bird when it came in.

Forget the decoys..... glad to see someone on this site owns a green egg! One of the best outdooor cooking appliances available....works like magic with just about anything in the form of fin fur or feather that you can feed it!

Post a finished photo of the smoked duck....

Lenny

decoys not....................but the flip-flops may be.

Kyle, save this for next time..=)

Jon - I'm just kiddin man. I was actually house hunting all weekend anyway and wouldn't have been able to.

Jeff - We can always count on your for a wisecrack. Yeah, I didn't want to throw the "sticking my tongue out at you" as well because I thought that would take it over the top.

Jeff - let's not turn this into another competition of posted images...

Kyle - yeah, I heard that ya'll were going to get a 5 bedroom, 4 bath estate on the water. 3 car garage with a detatched workshop dedicated to decoy carving and another one just for the boats. Should be awesome - can't wait to visit.

Good stuff, Jon...would like to see the finished pic, too.

We still on for Malarky weekend on the 19-20th? I'm chomping at the bit to sit around and carve, grunt, scratch...

sorry for the poor quality -- it was sent from Edward to my Blackberry, to my home account, saved, and posted on my photobucket account.

This bird has already travelled farther than most people will in their lives...
