ISO clip to join plastic pallets?

Some of you may remember my Costco 10'x20' tents that are used as my boat shop and boat shed.... one I put a floor in, with free pallets and plywood. That is working well for my shop. The other tent has no floor, and is where my boat sits on trailer along with other boat stuff.

I am tired of dealing with the mud in that tent and want to make a raised floor like my shop. I have seen plastic pallets offered on CL, though not free, they are rotproof, and some have a nice grated surface that would not really need plywood at all... if I could join them so they would not move around at all (not sure they will anyway).... what I am looking for is a stout metal clip that would be likely barbed so that when I joined two pallets side by side a whack with a mallet sets this clip and draws them together....

Anyone see anything like this? So far not finding anything in my searches... but Google is only as good as the search string!

Found these... but cost more than plywood!

Don't know if they ever show up in your area but we used ww11 landing mats for building temp runways. the ones with the holes in them and have tabs so that they stay together usually free on Craigslist as well or pretty cheap but here corrosion is minimal good luck

Dave, those clips probably will not work on a plastic pallet. Why not just use heavy zip ties to join the pallets?

You will probably be looking for rackable pallets rather than nesting ones. Rackables are much like standard wood pallets. Nesting pallets would eventually sink down into the mud.

Marston mat or Pierced steel plate would not get you up off the mud, but would prevent the wheels from sinking in.

These guys may have some cheap ones for you.

I am thinking I may try to screw them together with some SS deck screws too.

This is what I found local... $6 each

Dave,

Those plastic pallets work well as long as the weight on top of them is evenly distributed. Weight from your boat trailer wheel most likely will punch thru the pallet unless you put a plywood top on the pallet to help distribute the weight.

These pallets don't hold up well in the machine shop in which I work. They are fine for flat plates. Put a weldment on them that has a block sticking out and the block sometimes breaks out a section of pallet.

Just food for thought.

Dave, thanks for the insight... maybe I should just use the plywood and make it easy to lock the pallets in place, and satisfy the weight distribution too. Got to get the pallets on site then work out the details.
