ISO new duck coat

I have been using my deer hunting coat the last couple years since my Columbia Quad Parka, shrunk beyond use! Hunting freshwater lakes/shore lines, the darker camo is not an issue. Hunting cattails, cornfields and salt marsh, it is kind of dark (justification to wife mostly). The truth is this coat is also shrinking, and because it is a quiet woods coat, it has no slippery surfaces. Getting the coat on and off over a wool sweater or fleece is a PITA.

I am ISO a new jacket that is:

1. Really warm, ideally layered system
2. Waterproof, but breathable
3. No hood, or removable (I hate the roll up hoods at my neck)
4. Cost less than a year of college tuition.
5. Has a light grass type camp pattern.

Anyone have any suggestions of what to look at or what to stay away from?

Heading to Vermont Friday, could stop off at either Gander Mt and or Cabela's on the way... and there is a Bass Pro along the way too. But if I had to order it, I can use what I have this next week.

Dave,

I have been using the Cabela's Dry Plus Dry Fowl 4 in 1 jacket for the past two seasons. Zero complaints on it. Waterproof, windproof and breathable with zipper hood. I have the wading style, not the parka style. I wear the base coat under my waders and then add the top coat as needed. Unless the temps drop below 25* or I'm motoring in or out on the water, I rarely wear the top coat. I am layered underneath with a long underwear shirt and hooded sweat shirt though.

They are currently on sale, and a heck of a deal, under $100. I highly recommend it and although it does not come in a grass camo, it does come in Mossy Oak Duck Blind.

Dave,

I've just recently bought a Mustang Integrity survival coat. I haven't even received it yet. The color's suck, or don't depending on your preference, but I plan to just put on a thin camo/gray rain slicker over top of that. I often hunt alone from my estuary and I always wear my PFD, but if I can add in one additional layer of protection I'm going to do it. Will not need the PFD anymore and I'll have some hypothermia protection. Not sure this would work for you but just a thought. You can easily layer with your synthetic/wool base, wool sweather, float coat, etc.

Hope that helps some.

Dave,
I went through that a couple years ago and returned several due to poor quality-wound up finding some good used gear on CL-and cheap. Good lock.
Ryan,
I have seen mustang survival jackets in camo,I think they still make them.

They do if you want the full length coat. In the bomber style that I wanted, it's not an option. thanks.

What size? I have a brand new columbia parka in delta marsh with the new heat technology. Size is Adult Medium.

You cant beat columbia.

Tony, I agree, I am leaning toward another Quad parka.... but know there are other options now to consider. I am looking at an XL for me. Thanks, Dave
