I guess I gotta comment on the "bow transom" garvies, first, I've worked on and around every Garvey ever designed, I've been a commercial Bayman over 40 years, and have had lots of different boats.
Yes, the Chinks do look pretty, they were designed for the local conditions of their region, they did NOT hold up as well in my area, just a fact, I'm not going into details. As for the "flat" bow, it's not an issue, no more, or less seaworthy then any other design. If you lived on one you'd know, if not, well, it's just another opinion.
Remember, form follows function, it's the eyes of the beholder that changes the form.
