Joppa Flats Scull boat video

I just found this little gem on YouTube tonight. It's Geoff Walker demonstrating how to scull with his Joppa Flats sneak boat. There is no hunting footage but I still found it very interesting. A good historical documentary and a really cool boat.

Thanks for the link! Building a scull boat and learning to scull are high on my list of waterfowling things that I want to do.

Those are slick looking boats, but I just don't feel safe in a boat that needs 100+ pounds of ballast in the nose to be seaworthy. I know this doesn't make sense--I gladly step onto sailboats with much heavier keels--but I just can't get over my fear.

A 100# is light. me 200ish my brother 300+ and 180# of lead in the bow and another 80 in the center on real calm days gets the float real low in the water. it is deadly when every thing works out right. wind waves and curents.

Never liked that style of boat. The oar looks about 1/2 the length of the ones we use around here. His whore oar is about the length of just the paddle part on ours. It is neat though to see other styles.
