just another reason

Just what the haters want - one more guy carrying :). [/QUOTE]
I don't carry yet, but got my permit a many months ago, just because I knew it was going to get tougher if the election went the way it did... glad I did now too! I need to stop buying boats and decoys and save some to get a carry gun, everything I have now is too big.

I guess it's one of those so-called "unintended consequences" I hear about..... Since I can't carry my 9 with a full mag, I plan to save up for a SIG P220 Equinox.... 45ACP

That should work!

Tod, did you look it up? The Equinox finish is a pretty slick looking weapon.

Out of curiosity, can I drive to a nearby state (I am thinking up to KTPost in maine) and buy my ammo?

If so, won't a lot of people do that to avoid the hassle? With the amount I hunt its worth it to me to drive up and buy a case or two. That way CT doesn't get the tax money either...

Importing ammo/non assualt rifle long guns is not clear to me. Have you seen CCDLs legal analysis/write-up on their website?

Your concealed carry/pistol permit will get you ammo in the state.

you can do anything you want as long as you dont get caught. when i get my boat on monday in NH im hoping to stop at Kittery to pick up some toys.

Tod - for plans im trying to get in with the Red Cross to work with the blood drives and i can transfer to any state i want too within their agency. i know someone who works with them, she is a phlebotonist and loves her job so hopefully they like my application and i can get a job.

Good to have a plan!!!!!!!!!!

This is all scary. My dad who is in eighties has been telling me that this was coming all my life.He also told me to buy land as one day it would all be leased out to outfitters or so over priced you could not afford it.I thought he was crazy. Now land that was useless when I was a kid because you could not farm it or run cattle easily on, it sells at a premium and people like Ted Turner and other nutty bastards buy it up.Looks like dad was right after all.I grew up in southwest kansas and still live there just a few hours from Colorado. As a kid we went hunting, motorcycling, jeeping, fishing, and camping in colorado. Now it may as well be San fransisco I hardly recognise the towns. So liberal, full of drug addicts and crime, and now anti gun laws as strict as any communist country.I really do worry for my kids.

Same thing happened here i used to bike to my frinds house when i was a kid with a pellet gun and a compound bow in a duffel to go squirrel hunting. If i got caught now doing that im sure id get arrested.

Are you sure they're hiring by you Carl?

See my post from a couple of weeks back.

Airbus is breaking ground on its new aircraft plant next week. Suppliers for them will follow all over south Alabama and Mississippi.
Austill cant find enough ship-fitter and welder. BAE in Mobile, Ingalls & VT Halter in Pascagoula and all the other shipbuilders are "in the same boat".
Mercedes in Tuscaloosa and Hyundai in Montgomery are both expanding.
Publix is opening 2 new stores in this area.
Academy is getting ready to build a new store.

I wouldn't sell everything and move down without an offer, but if you have the right skill set, jobs are here or are coming soon. Do some checking and send out some resume's

Red Cross has a big office in Mobile!
And we have 2 teaching hospitals and a new cancer center.

Sure you can Bill. Too bad you don't drink because you can load up on discounted booze at the NH state liquor store too while you are up there.....

Thank you Carl. Sounds like your area is enjoying some economic recovery, thats good to hear. Although CT's new law sucks, I love where I live and hope I never feel forced to move. Afraid this old yankee would melt real quick in the deep south summer, I'm a cold weather type. ;-) Just got done with icefishing, my second favorite winter outdoor activity.

On the other hand, Chris sounds like he's ready to go. Run while you still can kid.

Carl,

I'm on several job boards and the stuff I'm getting from Alabama seems to be centered on Montgomery. That's what, 2 1/2 hours from the gulf? Are there any hunting/fishing opportunities in the middle of the state?

I used to work in Montgomery & lived in Prattville.

The freshwater fishing is simply fantastic. Some of the best bass fishing in the country. Crappie fishing in phenomenal, I've caught many 17-18" slabs in the spring run. Good striper & hybrid fishing below the dams. Catfish too.

Duck hunting can be challenging, you have to be ready to run the rivers and do a lot of scouting. Mostly woodies, but enough mallards & gadwalls & others to keep it interesting. If you can find a piece of property with a swamp, that can make it better. Deer and hog hunting is fantastic, especially for hogs on the public lands southwest of town. Fairly easy to find dove shoots to get in on.

The Gulf is only a short 2.5 hour drive away, the fishing is even better and the duck hunting can be much, much better.

Let me know what sort of field of work you are looking into and I will let you know what I think about the Mobile area.

Nothing worse than having a sweaty asscrack 9 months a year!
