Outstanding captures!!!! Thanks for sharing this!

I am curious what he is in... if he is 500-600' off shore... (if I read his right up correctly)

I don't know maybe a breakwall or pier, or he has one large boat.

Beautiful. And scary
Dated a redhead like that back in college, just as unpredictable as well.......

Awesome Pictures - The "Eerie Erie" Picture - To me, I see a Lab breaking though the waves in chase of the bird.... Maybe its just me... but it cool.. Thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!!!

Or maybe comfortably and safely on shore with a telephoto zoom lens focused on waves 500-600 feet from shore...cool pics for sure.

I know that location very well having lived nearby for over 30 years. The harbor is at a river mouth and there are two very long seawalls protecting the approach. Many individuals have been swept off those walls in conditions like what is photographed and most have died but then most of those people were drunk or thrill seekers. I am betting he used the seawall to get the photos. You will note the large amount of sand in the water in a few of the images.

Pat - Amazing photos. I have been out on Erie 3 times where I've been humbled and prayed we'd get back safe. Evidently prayer works because I am still here. Even this season, we had to lay on the deck of a Lund in PFD's praying for safe return. All to shoot a bluebill...

I thank God for good captains...

I thank God for Lund Alaskans...

I thank God for His safety and provision...

Nice photos. Thanks for sharing... Pat

You're a very brave man or a die hard duck hunter.
Everyone I know that have been caught in those conditions sold all their gear and never duck hunted again.

Pat - I would guess many a brave man have died on that lake. It's power can be humbling...

As a diver hunter, you learn to pick your days. If it is questionable before you leave port, pass on the hunt. If it's questionable when you go out and, it gets worse, you're in trouble. The days we got caught we succumbed to pressure to go out and were over optimistic. Optimism like that can kill a waterfowler.

Over the years one learns to be smart, be cautious, and respect the broadwater... It's truly nothing to underestimate...

There were several deaths and near tragedies during the 20 years that I hunted Long Point on the north shore of Lake Erie. Twice my boat was requested by the police to participate in searches of the marshes near Turkey Point. Both were fatalities. That lake can turn treacherous in a heartbeat.

I left a layout boat and a whole rig of decoys out there once. Came back the next day and everything was fine, but it changes fast on Erie. I fish there a lot and when you go 20 miles out you are always watching the wind.
