Last goose hunt of the season

Finished up the 06-07 waterfowl season yesterday about 20 miles from Pierre near the river. The day started out with light SW winds and temp around 3F. We didn't see a bird until 1130 when the winds picked up to 25-35 from the NNW with snow squalls. The wind really gets the geese up off the ice and moving around. These late season honkers are fussy but we worked birds non-stop until we finished up about 1:30 with our six geese. Two of them were Richardson's. Still lots of these little geese around.

Cool...sounds like a classic late season hunt. We had tons of geese up until Sunday. Lots of Richardson's were still around. It's dead out there now. I'm sure the larger rivers south are holding tons of geese.
