Length of Decoy Line South Shore LI

Hi:
In just got a new spool of decoy line. Going to re-rig all of the decoys. I have H style weights. How long do you keep your decoy lines in a tidal area. South shore of LI?

I make mine 15 feet. I am sure I can get away with 10 feet. The longer line when there is ice in the bay. With H style you can set the amount of line you want out so the extra will not hurt.

That is what I was thinking. Around 15 ft should be enough but not too much. I used to have longer lines and it was a pain to wrap up the anchors after a morning's hunt.

AVION DECOYS have an adjustment on the keel, if you have 15' of line, just rap excess line around keel & clip into front grove in keel. You can adjust your line from 5' to 15' depending where you are hunting.

I figure 8 the line 3 times on the body, 2 wraps on head and anchor loop over the head, never had one drift with 1/2 # mushroom type anchors

And is the wind going with the current & tide or against?

Depending on all these factors, you may have to round up or down.
