Let's See Some Hand Tools

A couple drawknives

And nice cordless drills...I have a few of those stowed away. Maybe I mount them on the wall up high, so it transitions from the tool I use all the time to the ones I us infrequently to those that are more display of yesteryear than in use...

Vince,

One decoy seamstress to another, I'm disappointed in you brother! That looks like a carvers tool set!

Chuck -

Sorry to disappoint you brother.

I do NOT sew the canvas on my decoys. I try to cut it so it fits, without alterations and lots of folds. The process involves lots of measuring, guessing, gut feelings. past practice and profanity.
Lots of profanity...

The Tack Hammer was in one photo, but not the scissors, nor the side cutters to cut the wire. My bad.

So your observation is correct.

I do hand sew buttons, patches, etc., on old worn fishing & hunting gear, with heavy thread, and man o man is it ugly, but functional. Does that count?

A man has got to know his limitations.

Best regards
Vince

Jode

Thanks. How does that style of spokeshaves compare to a Stanley? Smoother operation I'd guess or maybe easier to control?

Eric
. Ohh man , it's like comparing a corvette to a Silverado. Smoother, lighters, sharper, faster. More maneuverable. Less fatigue and more shavings. When you use them hours at a time, the difference matters.

This is a surprisingly cool thread, thanks for sharing!

PS - looks like I answered my own question from another thread regarding whether you carve your own decoys, Jode. Very nice.
