Little pup and big pups---

Last Sunday we had a horrible wind storm here with wind gusts in the 50/60mph range. During that storm, Eli, got hit in the left eye with some flying debris. Monday he was in the vet's office getting checked over. The following morning I walked out to the kennel, fed the pups and Pepper first, then when they were done the other dogs got fed. While that was going on I brought Eli into the house for his eye drops and ointment. Well, needless to say, he found great comfort in my wife's arms as this picture will show you.

By the end of this week, there will only be two pups left out of the 8 that Pepper had. They will be there for one more week and be taken out next weekend when they are eight weeks old. We sure will miss them. You will notice Pepper still nursing and her daughter, Salsa, putting up with a lot from the pups. She is good-natured just like her mother and can absorb the climbing on, gnawing on, etc. etc. even if they are not her own pups.

Even Chaco has shown much restraint for being a young male. We have watched him closely and are very happy the way he is turning out.

This little tyke was trying her hardest to get a good bite out of the water dish.

We sure will miss them.

That chocolate has some look on its face. Nice looking pups. I like the small pup with his mouth over the bowl.

Al,

It is probably a good thing you and your puppy litters are a great distance from me. :>) :>) My Ginger is much fun,,,,,,,, certainly a couple more would be better, right?

Thanks for those comments. Chaco is something else. The little pup with his mouth on the bowl is now in Colorado. He'll be a hunting dog for sure.

Awesome photos. It would be hard not to miss them...they are adorable. Good luck !!

Thanks so much for the comments. By the way, it is extremely difficult to see them go. You end up falling in love.

Beautiful dogs ! I know some people whose houses are not as clean as your kennels. Rich

Thanks, Rich. I appreciate that. We try hard to keep everything as neat as possible. I still have plenty of odd jobs to do, however.

Those are some fine, healthy-looking dogs, Al.

Thanks, Bob. They were all healthy except for little Eli. Bev and I ended up spending over $250 on x-rays and exams at the vets. We found out that he had a small break on the orb right below the eye. The good news is that Eli gained an additional pound of weight in four days after the accident.
One of our dogs sold to a neuro-surgeon, so when he came to pick up his pup, he looked at the x-rays then gave the pup a good examination. From what he saw of the eye there was good movement and it continued to clear up. He thought he would make a full recovery. The couple who came to pick up Eli along with Ariel still wanted him especially after seeing the two run around playing with each other. When they pulled out their checkbook we asked that they only pay for the female. We gave Eli to them.

Dave, it would be great if you lived closer then you could come over and watch the pups with us. A couple more is very nice indeed. It is a full time job however.

Al,

you are blessed to have such a great family! It must be hard to say goodbye to those little ones.

Thanks, Derek. Last year I watched Bev closely as one of her very favorite pups sold and the couple headed back to Albuquerque. There was a tear that flowed down her cheek. By the way, about two months ago we stopped in to see that chocolate male. Max is looking fantastic and Bev felt so much better seeing him and finally knowing how he is turning out.
