live web cam of Bluenose 2 rebuild

OK Shermie, now you are getting my dander up. We are still smarting form the drubbing of the Glouster fleet in the great races handed out by the Bluenose. One of my favorite parts of the Mystic Seaport is getting to go below on the L. A. Dunton. I like to think about what it must have been like to be on the Banks on a night like tonight mending the tub trawls for tomorrows set in the Dory.

Wooden Ships and Iron Men.

Hope the new old girl makes her way to mystic for a visit.

That is a cool webcam Shermie. Thanks for sharing it.

Bob, when I go below deck I am always shocked at how short the berths are. Those were cozy bunks.

Thanks Shermie! I did not know they were rebuilding it! I always loved to hear the stories of the bluenose on Canadian Vignettes on CBC TV growing up :) I'll always love the way it looks on the dime!

Thats one hell of a tender, how many layouts will she carry?
You better get cracking, lots of work to get done before October!

Shermie, thanks for posting that. I got to watch a wooden mine sweeper being built during my lunch hour years ago. This brings back some memories. The biggest difference was they laminated the beams out of Oak. Oak wood at that time was a premium and they used all No. 1 No knots no defects. The first hull cost 50 million give or take a million and they blew that up. Destructive testing. I got to see the second one being built. Just happen to have a model of the Blue Nose so this is how she will look when finished.

I just got to spend some time on the Spirit of South Carolina, doing a bit of maintenance. These vessels are always inspiring to me. I'll be checking out the progress tomorrow. Thanks for the the tip.

Thanks Shermie - what an undertaking. It's ironic that the faster they made these ships, the more dangerous they became out on the grounds in rough weather. Thousands lost their lives. Many names are listed down the way in Gloucester.

I had a great time up there one summer and visited Lunenburg, Halifax and Digby. We flew into Halifax the day after the swiss air went down.......very somber to be sure seeing the shoreline searches.

Loved the whaling exhibit and I ate so many scollops - I should have gotten the gout !
