Dax Hinton asked me for help in getting these dimensions so he could repair some LL Bean Coastal Black Ducks. I sent him a photo I had on hand - of a bird I had re-billed and re-painted:
...but the only Beans Highhead I had hereabouts is scheduled for rhinoplasty....
My one good (original paint) highhead Beans Coastal resides at our camp on Lake Champlain. So, I took a few photos and measurements this past weekend. This an early (1960s?) bird, I believe - from the George Soule era.
Whole bird - profile:
Whole bird - oblique
Head profile - with just a couple of key measurements.
Here's the plan view of the head - with help from my caliper:
This view prints out "life-size" if I set it for 5x7. You might try "save image as" as jpeg, then printing it as a 5x7 with no cropping.
This image can also serve as a handy reference for laying out all the face markings (flecking) for a Black Duck as seen by my eye.
Hope this helps!
