Wow! It's been more than a year since I logged in. Pathetic...

I am pleasantly surprised to see lots of names here that I recognize.

When I was younger I heard guys talk about how much they used to love such hunting, shooting, carving, etc. But but didn't have time anymore. I couldn't comprehend how that could happen. "They were probably never very serious about it in the first place" I figured. Well now I understand. So much has happened that seems to get in the way and turn life upside down.

Michele and I divorced, I remarried and have a couple 13 year old step sons who have been slowly dragging me kicking an screaming back into the woods and marshes. Over the last couple days my mind has been wandering in the shop from spoons to decoys (which I haven't touched in years )

It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do here too. I'm still crazy busy and can't say I'll be posting much, but I'm here.

Hi Paul. Glad to see your update. Sounds like things are going your way again. I still have the same phone number ..... you also?

Good to see you back on the site!

Yep, life is crazy, but I think time in the marsh keeps helps keep us sane.

Thanks fellas. Been staring at some pintails I carved back maybe 2012 or 13 that never got painted, laying out lines for paint and realizing this is nothing like riding a bike!

Brad, my number is the same since we met. The one I have for you ends in 72. Maybe catch up a bit this weekend?

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm still here...

Remember the Allegan wood duck rig/hunt...(plus a couple token mallards...just as confidence decoys)

I remember it well. I've taken my step sons back there chasing squirrel a couple times over the past year and we were out there with my daughter's a week ago watching the steelhead thing to jump op the dam. Also not sure how familiar you are or how much you followed the story about the woman from Kalamazoo who was missing for five months but on the way out there along the two track we passed 60 feet from where they found her body last week.

Dear Paul,
It is so good to hear of you and from you. I still have the miniature canvasback you carved for me after the funeral of one of our MLB boys.

I went through the shadow of divorce and remarriage 25 years ago. God parts the fog of life and brings us up on the other side to live as if it were a second life.

I hope are well and wish you God's blessings. I do think you will find the marsh restorative.

Yes, realized that 100%. I often wonder when I pass people out in these vast game areas that are obviously look out of the norm what they are up to.

Best
Chuck

Glad to see you found your way back bud!

Lots changed for me too since we last talked. Still up north still married still got kids but they are older now. I haven't carved in over three years now. I still miss it and might get back to it this winter.
