I am looking for a pudlepointer puppy.
I am wondering if anyone on this site has connections with a breeder.

I have contacted NAPPA breeders but to this point have no guarantees.

Let me know if you have any leads,Thanks.

I have a friend in Glendive, Montana that got one from a breeder in St. Cloud area in Minnesota. Would think you could find breeder on the web. Can't be that many poodle pointer breeders in St. Cloud area. Excellent dog.

Okay you peaked my interest. Is it a poodle that has a tendency in its line to point or is or a mix of two breeds?

I have never heard the term before.

Have you checked with Hay Devil Gundogs? Click here They are suppose to have some good PPs and seemed like very knowledgeable people when I traded emails with them. I'm betting you are looking at a minimum of a one year wait unless you just luck into someone backing out of a litter. There never seems to be enough PP pups.

Have you thought about a German Wirehair or Drahthaar? They are very similar and it is much easier to get in on a good litter at shorter notice. If you do go that way go with a breeder from here Click here or a VDD-GNA breeding. If I were in the situation to have another dog right now I'd look for one out of this sire http://www.vomwindigenpunkt.com/showdog.cfm?id=65&name=Vico%20IV%20vom%20Donaueck. I keep seeing and hearing things that makes me think he is the real deal tough as nails multipurpose dog.

Good luck with your search.

NO! :) It is nothing like a Labradoodle.
It is a breed developed during the 1800's in Germany. It is down from pointers and a German pudel/poodle type water dog. The breeders of them want nothing to do with AKC recognition and try to keep them as a pure hunting breed. They are a nice dog just fairly rare. It is one of the main breeds that went into developing the German Wirehair/Deutsch Drahthaar.

Bill, my hunting partner bought a pudelpointer several years ago from Rock Creek Kennels in Minnesota and is very happy with his dog.

He researched pointing breeds that could also retrieve in cold water, and felt the pudelpointer was the best choice. He was right the dog does a great job in a climate as cold as Wisconsin.

Thanks fellas for the feed back.
Mike,i'll check on Rock Creek kennel i have been trying to stay closer to home.

Timj-you are right on about the wait. I haven't looked at the Wirehairs or Drathaars,i'll have to study up on them.

Brandon-The breed started in 1881 in germany, a cross between the german hunting poodle and an english pointer.
I saw them a few years ago and was very impressed with their enthusiasm and friendliness. They are said to be excellent family dogs.Wikipedia has a good description of them.
