Looking for an app or place for maps

I know this has been asked before so sorry for the repeat.

I am wondering if there is an app, or software, or online maps, that have all in one place maps that show all the WMAS, WPA?s forest lands, and other places where it is legal to hunt or shoot a gun. Prior to owning a place in another State, I had paper maps of the counties intended to roam. I know these still exist. It am hoping for something electronic and maybe even interactive.

OnX, Basemap and GIAA GPS all have land ownership layers (including public land) on their apps and turn your phone into the equivalent of a GPS with the boundaries over layed on your map with your location. They are all meant to run on a phone and all (I believe) require monthly or annual payment to access premium features (and land ownership is considered a premium feature). I don't' know what state you are interested in, they don't all offer nationwide coverage.

I've used onX and they are they offer good service and excellent customer support.

Many state DNRs offer mapping tools, but they don't tend to be interactive like you are hoping (I can't speak for every state)

I have limited experience, but started using OnX this past season. I find it very user friendly. I like that I can use it on my computer (big screen), and see all that I have prepared on my phone. In VA we have strict spacing requirements. I can cast distance lines off the plotted blinds and know in the dark if I am far enough away by looking at my phone. Seeing the land owners for each plot, and boundaries is convenient too. There are layers that can be activated or not, showing WMA, no hunting zones etc.

OnX works great for me, too. The property boundaries and names are very helpful. But, now want to ask those out there what they find to be the best app for a compass on an Android phone. Anybody? Thanks, John

I am also another OnX fan. Initially I bought the subscription that includes a mini SD card. So I can use OnX on my computer, tablet, phone and use the card in my Garmin GPSes. I usually pop it into the Alpha handheld. Steve didn't like it on the Alpha because the screen was too small for the seeing challenged. I have popped it into the Garmin Montana that has a phone sized screen and like it much better.

On the phone is nice as well but if you are in places that have no reception, you need to have downloaded the maps for the areas you will be in so that you can use the app if you have no service. Not that big of a deal, other than you do want a good internet connection when downloading because the files can be pretty large.

Since I have the mini SD card, the yearly subscription is the same whether I am updating the phone or card. There doesn't appear to be a limit on the number of devices that can use your subscription (based on using it on multiple computers, phones and tablets), or perhaps I just haven't the limit yet. The yearly subscription can be by state, or for the entire country I believe.

Which OnX app? OnX Hunt I am assuming as there are a couple different ones.

is the one I use...

When you choose a state you can choose just the app or the chip....you don't pay the $120 per year once you have gotten the chip if you get the chip

this is an example:

Correct, OnX Hunt

Since I sell real estate I only purchased the Onx Hunt app to access South Carolina properties and property owners. I can still chose and download and create "offline maps" for out of state trips and if I lose cell service I can still navigate using only gps on my cell phone. I love this feature since some remote areas have no cell service.
