Looking for some cool hardwoods

With the winter here I am gearing up for making some utensils. I know there are a lot of guys around here that appreciate cool wood. I have primarily used hard maple, cherry, walnut, hickory and a little beech. Lately I have been doing more one of a kind/few of a kind pieces or sets and using my more select stock for them. I came into some really cool curly maple with an interesting lineage from a friend for Christmas and have been thinking about trying to track down some more unique stuff. I am looking for stuff at least an inch thick but 2"+ would be really cool. I need 3"+ wide and 12" and longer. It should be free of knots and checks but I can work around small tight knots or between them on bigger pieces of wood. I Know it sounds fussy, and truth is I am fussy about my work, but the requirements are more so set by my product than me. I am looking for stuff hard and heavy (cherry is about the lightest and softest I want to use) I prefer to keep everything in North American species. Reclaimed stuff with a story behind it is a plus. I will gladly trade utensils for wood that I cannot find here in Michigan. Anyhow, if you happen to be a wood nerd or spend time at saw mills or whatever if you could keep an eye out I'll make it worth your while for something I can use. Thanks!

I'll keep a look out for you. Just started a renovation of an old house. I'll set aside anything that may interest you and send you a pic if I find anything good. Luke

Would red or white oak do? Something reclaimed from a barn? How about some black locust? Let me know and I can pull some stuff together after the first of the year.

If you would like Black Locust I have between five and six cords split in my back yard right now Paul. It has been drying for over a year.

Man if you ever need some 2x2x12 let me know I have SO MUCH 50 year old walnut in storage its sick. No one wants a walnut call and I will never use it all.
