lunch time walk..... DUCK/BUCK

Thats a good one! I went out shed hutning for the first time today and came up empty. I did see my first woodcock last night however.

you have to walk and walk and walk some more and right when you think you walked far enough go a bit further and then maybe you might come across a shed i have found a couple dozen sheds in the past couple years. alot of times ill just wonder through the woods zig zagging and i will stop from time to time and just scan the area looking for a tine poking up from under the leaves or a arched shape or any white. besides that my best advice is walk and walk some more go slow and go over the same areas multiple times but come in from a diffrent direction.

Yeah it takes a lot of time...I had a banner year last spring, this being the crown jewel of my shed collection...I doubt as though I'll ever top it.

that one is awesome i found one shed it had trash all over 9 actual points just on that one side.

Plenty of white in the woods around my house--and another foot of it due tonight-but any antlers are several feet below it. This has pushed the deer into some pretty concentrated softwood patches, and I'll be looking hard at where they've been spending their time to inform my shed hunts in a few weeks.

Good luck Jeff. I walked a deer yard today and was very disappointed to find someone elses tracks from a day or two earlier. We just lost our snow cover in the past day or two.
