Lund Snipe in Atlanta, GA

I think I owned that boat at one time I looked at the photos and there are holes in the seat where a blind fit. I sold it via this forum to a guy in kansas. Small world. I think the guy is a forum member. bob

Hey Bob,
Yes, this is your former (not going to call it old) boat. It is a classic and I hate to part with it. Too many kids in college though, and economics dictate putting it on the market. Stripped it down to the hull, replaced all they styrofoam flotation, flipped the woods seats over, stripped them down and resealed them. Used all of Lou's products -- aluminum primer, then FME. She is ready for the next 100,000 miles. Great boat and it was a pleasure dealing with you on the transaction. Hope all is well.

Trying to get my bearings down here in Atlanta re: duck hunting. Floating creeks for woodies appear to be the best bet, or the big reservoirs for ringnecks. /cc

Oh, and I did follow-up on your idea when I replaced the transom. Shaped a piece of wood on the back of the transom -- used 1/2" fir marine plywood. I ended up have to epoxy together 1/2" fir for the transom itself to get it to the right thickness.

This was a great idea of yours and was very pleased with how it worked out. I secured it to the inside transom with stainless steel carriage bolts and used 3M 5200 to seal the transom to aluminum on both the inside and the outside piece. Worked well. You had the right idea, but it took me a while to execute on it. Getting the old transom out was tricky and had to piece the wood together like a jigsaw puzzle to keep from having to pop out any rivets.

Let's see if I can get these pics to work . . .

Nice restoration. Those snipes are great and also hard to find. I am trying to find a freighter canoe which is really a snipe on steroids. It should get snapped up in a hurry. bob
