Mac got his first grouse with a .22 yesterday!

He shot one with a 12 ga a couple of years ago, none last year though, and yesterday when we were out cutting wood he snipered a hen Spruce grouse - body shot at ten feet he said. Man was he proud. Me too!

way to go Mac ,now what ya gotta do it cut it up in slices then cook it in the bacon pan i prefer maple flavoured bacon ,ummmm right sum good!! first of many Tchickens i imagine [thunder chickens]

Mac had that thing in a frying pan in minutes of our return. I had fried some side pork and we cooked it in the leftover fat with some caribou steaks. That and some fresh taters and butter and I was down for a nap.

We get alot of spruce grouse, some ruffies, the rare blue grouse, sharptails in certain spots, and three kinds of ptarmigans. Mostly we shoot spruce grouse.
