Makin' some Decoys!

Just dusted off my grandfathers molds and ordered some eps beads. Cleaned thirty years of dust with some scotchbrite and hopefully making some decoys next week. If not making a heck of a mess tryin!

Please post some pics!! We just found some old goose decoys built with bases of juniper and canvas pulled over wire ribs...gonna try to make new ones to preserve the antique ones.....

Jim, www.foamdecoys.net ck out their forum, there is an on going thread just about canvas decoys. Steve at the same site they have a thread about molding/ casting decoys in foam, both with the beads & with 2 part foam. Enjoy the addiction!!!

My grandfather worked in a foundary and made them himself. I believe he used the old Herters 72 diver with the internal (flush) weight and the Brant (81?)from the same era. I have the Bluebill (diver) head mold as well as the Canvasback head mold. Still trying to find the Brant head mold. Also came upon a wildfowler puddle duck head without paint which I might use for a pattern for carving some puddle duck heads.

If you had anybody but Naco as an avatar I could tell you! LOLOLOLOL! I ordered them from IASCO, shipping from MN to PA was $45.00 Which made 25lbs cost me $114.00 total. Wish I had somewhere more local. I'm going to experiment with some heads first to get it right.
