March Whats on your workbench?

Bob-

Those are GORGEOUS.....I love your white faced whistler. Reminds me of the one I got in Argentina....beautiful bird but damn it killed me to go chase him down. Steve's always said that it's a good thing that ducks don't cry like rabbits squeal when they get hurt or he'd likely never shoot another duck again. I can tell you THEY DO. That white faced whistler squealed and cried the moment it hit the water. It's likely the only reason I found it as it landed behind a thick stand of cattails in some other thick vegetation. But find it I did. And it tore me up the entire time I was looking for it. I hate hearing critters in pain. But lordy what a gorgeous decoy that is, and what a gorgeous bird it was.

Neat bird--Bob, you don't often miss color, but the feather edgings on the back are off!
Want me to take it south to see if it works?

Tom~

I always enjoy your birds!

Question: What glue do you use to assemble bodies? I have always used a good marine epoxy, sometimes slightly thickened. I been using System Three and have been happy with it for all applications. I've tried Gorilla Glue a few times but I never seem to get the invisible seams I want.

Thanks,

SJS

AeroMarine epoxy 2:1 thickened with whatever fine sawdust is on the saw. Problem is this bass is so dry it sucks it up so I will saturate the seam then apply the thickened stuff. Thanks for the kind words

never fails. I think i've done good with carving 2 birds this week and then someone shows off with 6. quite happy with the one i carved today. I like where it is going style-wise

Marching on to page 6 in one month. Great stuff, everyone!

Well this paint job took only one hour - that's start to finish and brushes washed! I did it because of the thread that Pat started on supporting contemporary carvers at St. Charles. Man, that thread has got everyone talking deep thoughts. So as to keep with the ideals of fast-flatties, I pushed myself on this paint job to keep with the program. It's just a gunner:)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!

What they lacked in experience they more than made up for in their powers of concentration:

'Twas a fine Saint Paddy's Day, indeed! (and it didn't take me that long to "edit" all the Brant this morning....)

Well we are not snowed in but it did snow just like every other day in this part of the world. Today I got some time together to work in the shop. Mostly doing odds and ends detailing stuff so I can get them into the paint stage. Here is a little bit of what I have done so far.

Those of you that were at Strongsville might remember this young man bleeding all over a pintail head....

He's progressing. He'd been spending some time in Obi Juan's dungeon.
