As many of you know Brian Story won the trip that Jeff Coats gave away back in the fall. It was a three man two day trip and he invited Brandon Sivley and I to go with him. Having never been to the Eastern shore area, we were like kids in a candy store seeing signs for Salisbury, Easton and all the storied areas of waterfowling. Our first day was a hunt in the north end of Sinepuxent Bay. We hunted from an island in a blind that one of Jeff's buddies had set up. Jeff was not officially guiding on that trip, but was along to film. We were able to take a few Brant, some mallards, widgeon, geese and green wing teal.

The next day found us on the Chincoteague Bay sea duck hunting in 21 degree temps. and 25-30 m.p.h. winds. We did o.k. and managed a few scoter, old squaw and bluebills before the wind got up. My hat is off to you guys that can gun in 4 ft. seas and manage to hit a duck. We looked like a bunch of girls out there. When the ice on our backs (and everything else) got to about a half an inch thick we went back in.

Jeffs dog Coot is an amazing Lab, she is fearless when jumping into 4ft. seas and a strong tide.

To round out our trip we went to southern New Jersey to meet with Jode Hilman. Jode had a beautiful black duck decoy waiting for Brians son. We spent some time in Jode's shop sipping on coffee and talking about Delaware river hunting. It was a great trip with good friends and one that will go into my memory bank. Shawn
