Max legal width on trailer??

Anyone know if or what the max legal width on a trailer? Does it vary by state? I know there are weight restrictions/ lic requirements, that I don't have to worry about, but width may become an issue. Oh, I am in Wisconsin.

Does vary by state, generally it's 8' 6" for most roads in most states without a permit.

Trailers are his business. I'm sure he'll post as soon as he sees this. Or you can look through all his old posts and maybe find it.
