MELONSEED

Now that the duck season is over, except for a few more days with Canadas,I was wondering if anyone has hear of or used a Melonseed skiff for duck hunting.I contacted the builder,Roger Crawford of Marshfield Mass, and he knows of no one of the 400+ he has built that is hunting them. It's a 1880 design with a spirit rig sail, which is the way they are used.I whish I could send a picture on my equipment,Meanwhile I will buy a FG Wigeon from The Mighty layout boys.I'll need to sell my Competion Perazzi to afford the Melonseed.

The melonseed is said to handle rougher weather then the BBSB. There is a lot of info on building melonseeds.they are a little more complicated then BBSB to build. Wooden boat mag. $90.00 for plans, but I like wider bow , that plans from mysic has.

The clasic barnegat or a clasic melonseed is the boat that I prefer. the estuary a nice plastic boat with a flat deck to shead water better
