Memorial Day

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Lt Colonel John McCrae, MD (1872-1918)
Canadian Army

Let's remember those who have given their lives in the service of their country this weekend. (I'll thank the Vets on Veterans Day, they'll understand.)

thanks

I thank vets every day - and a poppy rides on the mirror on my truck all year long

but the reason for Memorial day is being lost.

that little poster says it all

May God bless America's finest that made the ultimate sacrifice. They are truly heroes and, paid for the freedoms we enjoy. Blessings to their families as well for the sacrifices they made and, the hardships they endured...

Terry - I salute Cpl. Benjamin Desilets!
