migration NORTH

Took a ride today below the C and D canal while crossing over from the top of the reedy point bridge I got a good look of the 1000 acre marsh loaded with ducks (private area) stopped to glass the marsh and saw 1000's of ducks they were mallards teal, pinnies, bald pates, saw bills, gaddies ,shovlers, ring necks ahhh ,yes even a drake woodie, and some canadian geese. So hopefully these lucky survivers will mutiply 10 fold for a better duck hunt this coming season.I mean lets face it guys, we were scraping the bottom of the barrell this past season so things have to be going upwards for 2010-2011 season. WE HOPE and PRAY.

You must be seeing things or taking some good drugs. Since the birds NEVER migrated south, they can't be migratiin back north.

Well,Mark ,since I'm not a photo bug person I can't show proof of what I saw and at the age of 75 I find no reason to lie at my age so you will just have to believe me,I only posted this info for the benefit of the duck hunters on this site. They all like to know of migrations southward so why not also flights back north kinda gives us duck hunters something to look fowards too for the next season. sorry to hear that you are a doubtful person. No pun intened . P.S.I don't do drugs , just like smoking or drinking there all bad for your health .

Cas,
I woke up to the sound of Canadas honking this morning. It's been a few months since I've heard that. I heard some Robins chirping yesterday and the Collared Doves are hooting this morning. Maybe, just maybe spring is finally arriving. In a few more days the high flying Snows will likely be going over.

By the way, I don't think Mark meant anything by his post. I'm sure he doesn't doubt what you have seen. He was a butt of a migration joke that has been going around here and was just adding that. Nobody doubts the northward push is on.

Tim thanks for the heads up.I was not aware of the mig. joke .Funny that you should mention about the canada geese here in del. there just about gone except for some locals still hanging around.Last week the canadas and snows were flying north every day. Here is a good one for you during this past season after a days hunt while retuning home I always saw this same hunter in his goose field closing up at the days end with no geese, well guese what yeterday as I passed his field low and behold here were the canadians feeding around and almost on top of his pit what a laugh I was thinking those geese saying thats okay protect that corn will get it on the way back when the season is closed.he he he

hey, ski, our place is overflowing with both water and waterfowl right now---appears as if we are in the midst of staging for the trip north--May all predators lose their teeth and appetites, and may the duckies increase and multiply!

was out snow-goosin today across the river from cas at madhorse.....tons of teal....and in every farm field on the way to the ramp.....ducks everywhere

Here in New Brunswick the Saint John river at Oromocto has been ice free for close to two weeks, which is really early for the ice to go. Usually it goes some time in April. Today me and the wife were at the park/boat launch area having a Timmies and what soars by but 50 geese and they landed on the opposite side on the river channel on oromocto island. Thats the earliest that I've ever saw geese up here, sure there must be some that winter along the coast but not up here as usually things are still locked up in ice at this time.

they are still around but it was raining so hard they wouldnt move....so no i didnt do any good....i only gave it a half hearted attempt with a few floaters and shells...hunted for about an hour and left...they werent moving at all and the rain wasnt going to let up

What do you mean migrating north? You mean they migrated south?.... just kidding. I had a great season regardless.

With all of those years of duck hunting under your belt, sorry to hear that your past season was that bad. I hope this next season they (thousands of ducks) all come down the eastern seaboard for you.
