I've gotten two suspicious emails from quackhead today, non of which have promised to send me a very large foreign check...but suspicious none the less.

I'll check it out Chuck. I have been getting bad stuff from a lot of others as well. Not sure if it was something that was linked/attached to me. I do have a firewall installed and have an active Mcafee software too. I'll check it out. Sorry...
 
Whatever it is, it is going around.... my neice sent out an email that was in my spam mail last Friday, and an hour later everyone on my mailing list was spammed... though none of the emials showed in my sent box? I routinely get junk from others that appear similar. I just dump them from the spam folder. I did change my password, but I don't think it was that the account was hacked per se.... I too run active firewall?

Just a guess - it may have to do with Microsoft ending its support of Windows XP on April 7. My Mom had her address book hacked - and I got a new laptop - on the advice of my computer guy. (BTW: I can now share others' dislike of Windows 8.1 - lots of changes, no improvements that I can find....)

I was wondering about the XP issue as well. I checked my computer and everything was/is active. Running a full scan now
 
I have also received these email scams from Quackerhead, reported them as email scam, DO NOT OPEN THESE EMAILS !!!
 
(BTW: I can now share others' dislike of Windows 8.1 - lots of changes, no improvements that I can find....)

Steve, I could not agree more. What a mistake for an operating system!

I had some strange calls and pop ups on Windows XP with all my email addresses hacked. I was advised to go to a complete new computer and go with Windows 7 and stay away from 8 or 8.1. It was a bit of a change but everything is working fine now.
