the outher day i went out to feed my dogs, but when i opened to door only one dog came out.
after some inspection of the kennal i saw a hole in it.
so i started calling for jesse, after about 20 min i got in my truck and drove all over.
when it got dark i gave up and came to terms he was gone.
later that night i was in my garage doing some cleaning, trying to keep my mind off jesse.
after about an hr i decided to clean up the boat from last hunting season, and when i looked in the boat there was jesse asleep in his spot in the boat.
when i called his name he looked up at me as if to say, is it hunting season yet.
needless to say i was pretty happy to see him.

Jesse wasn't going to left behind. knew where to be. Reminds me of Boomer. Couldn't open the pickup door without her assuming her place with that I'm ready to go look.

Wow Nathan, what a relief. You must have been sick. They are something else aren't they? We all must have some crazy stories about our retrievers hey.....................Glad he's home.............Kevin

jesse is the same way with the truck if i dont take him he wont have anything to do with me for the rest of the day.

chris they are one of the best hunting partners you will ever have.
i once had a guy tell me dogs wernt werth more than the shit they leave behinde, i looked at him and said you never had a lab and walked away.

nathan ~ I hear yah. I had a black lab for 11 years, she hunted with me for 8 of those. I've just spent five seasons without one, but its about time. Prob '10 I'll get a pup.

Wow, you had me scared for awhile there, glad for the happy ending. With two to four dogs at any given time over the last 14 years, I usually have to leave one or two behind. My oldest Kimo, been gone four years now, was the smartest and would always somehow sneak into his kennel in the back of the truck and lie there for hours, just in case. It made it very hard for me to pull him out of the truck, load up another dog and leave him home. And when we returned at the end of the day Kimo would be waiting and would just lay into the other dog, barking furiously at him, telling him what for.

Nathan, It's too damn cold for those dogs outside. Roll over and let them in bed with you, ever hear of Three Dog Night?? Glad to hear the happy ending. I am on my third Lab so I do know how you feel.

Hi Tom, Nathan,and all
So Tom, it's cold there in the big city too? It was -27 here on the West end of Lake Emily, Tuesday morning, and we are going to try to break that tonight by a degree or 2.
Our new lab pup IKE(7 months) will be spending the night indoors tonight .
I have never taken the time to have a block heater installed in my pickup that I take to work, mostly because it has always started so good without one. I do have a magnetic one though, that you stick on the bottom of the oil pan, it helps enough on these ridiculously cold nights to get it started. Well this morning,(only -12 degrees), my wife went out to start the cars (we kind of trade off on that duty) , and she said that my pickup almost didn't start. well, she was also the one who had put the magnetic heater under the truck the night before. She asked after she had put it on , " you just stick it on the big square thing with the fins, right ?" I said ya,and didn't think much about it.
I put it on tonight ,and after looking at things, it seems that she had put it on the transmission last night . Thats why it "almost didn't start" I guess, but it did shift awful nice right from the start this morning.

Tom,

This winter has had enough really cold spells that my dog is getting spoiled. Thinks he should spend every evening in the house. I cleared the snow from his outside kennel today and noticed there was some ice ringing the edge of his electric water dish. His dish sits inside a insulated trash can that has a portal cut in the side so he can access his water. It has to get pretty cold before the heated dish won't keep the water from skimming over.

Nathan, I believe you, I was just trying to make myself feel better about hopelessly spoiling my mutts. Ours are well behaved but have probably more priviliges than they should ;^). Stay warm!!
